My copy of XP only had 1 year of support. I would have to pay $$ to renew maintenance on my copy of XP so that I could apply all the latest patches. If you are convinced it is the source of the problem, I could renew......

You should be able to update free. Just go to start then go to Help and Support Center and on that page there is an option to update, Will run a scan and then let you download the files and service packs you are missing.

I have done some more experimenting ( no new window patches yet). I find if I turn off the ip packet sniffing in the setup then I can enter eq. (no more lockups at server selection) However the menu bar at the bottom will not come up. Yet ctrl-ins-1 still works

kazaa, nice find.
It might be like daoc windowed wont bring it up either, have to use the shortcuts.
I'm guessing you are running windowed.

I think I just read somewhere thet EQ went to DX9.0c check that out maybe that will fix it.

Also check that your firewall is off. I had a problem with this issue once and turning the XP firewall off fixed it
