Yes, you are at risk "now".
However you were at risk "before" as well.
When someone posts a first person account of being banned for not doing anything obvious using these tools then we can all start to panic.
Funny thing is, folks that get banned always seemed to have been doing something stupid.

That's always the same good old story. That discussion took place so many times with EverQuest.
That's simple:
- Do things you are not technically able to do, !@#$%^&* up with the client/server stream and you will get banned. There is no discussion on this, if Sony wants to, they can figure it out in a heartbeat.
- Automate things you are able to do or just make them easier (macroing) and make sure no one notices you act like a wierdo, there is almost NO CHANCE that you will get banned. Sony cannot legally check your computer for software like Xunleashed, they will never take the risk of doing that, you cannot start imagining the consequences of that. Even if by some twisted logic someone convinces you that under this and that circumstance they can check your computer, rest assured that THEY WILL NOT take the risk. They started thinking about it in EverQuest but as soon as they foresaw the consequences, they gave up... indefinitely.
To sum it up, keep using Xunleashed, don't act like a jerk, you don't risk anything.

Also keep in mind that the main reason to enforce anti-hacking / anti-macroing rules is NOT just for the fun of stepping on folks that break the rules. It's to keep the "honest" folks happy.
- Making sure that the economy isn't completly wrecked by exploiters and macroers
- Making sure that folks aren't having to complete with folks with bot armys for spawns, especially AFK bot armys.
- Making sure that folks don't see superman hackers running around doing the impossible.
- Jumping on folks that "illegally" make RL profit off in game sales.
Basically, if nobody is complaining, there isn't a problem. They might get a bit proactive with the economy one as once that is wrecked it's hard or impossible to fix.
Also, to the end that there is a LARGE public relations component in this they will make a big hoo haa about cracking down on cheaters periodically even if they are doing nothing different at all. Keeps regular folks "happy".
That said, tradeskilling is such an obscene time sink that they can hardly be surprised when folks go looking for some automation. It took me ALL day on saturday to make 40 maple boxes... mostly for skilling up thank gawd cause they are worth less than a gold a piece.
