Helpful things you should know... : EverQuest 2 General Discussions

I have seen a lot of posts regarding the 'problems' that the application has, I have experienced a few but they were easy to resolve buy reading many posts and simply understanding what I WAS DOING WRONG not what the app is doing wrong.

So I have compiled a basic list of what I have done to run Xunleashed this with ease, trouble free.

Anything above 1280X1024 resolution can be problematic (hell, your macro crafting, who cares what res you run, right?)

I can window or un window my client at will with no issues, but i do have issues at higher res

The application window, like the script window or the radar etc need to have a 'background', meaning that you need to have your paperdoll, or the normal in game map window (any command window will do) open and running behind the Xunleashed gemerated window.

Think of it like this, the Xunleashed window (script one or whatever) are made of wet paper, so if you want to write on that wet paper it's going to need a hard surface behind it, that hard surface is a normal EQ2 command window (the normal map or paperdoll etc)

If you have problems, reset your EQ2 custom user interfaces back to the standard ones, you can't fix something without a stable baseline, too many variables.

If you have a poor connection, and no, I dont care how big your internet pipe is, packet loss and latency are the issue, you will miss buffs, clicks etc as the command packets get lost or corrupted.

If your not running an Intel processor, then according to all the posts I have read (and a friend that uses Xunleashed on an AMD), your going to have issues (plenty of technical reasons for it, none relevent because it's not going to change)

Lock your crafting window, otherwise the latency monster will move it for you and you'll get very frustrated

I run Atnivirus, a non Micro$oft firewall with intrusion detection and a few other apps at the same time as the game, if i notice missed buffs etc then i start to shut down the services, I never shut my AV down and have not had any problems (I use Symantic Corporate, not the home one, the home one is a much fatter client, with too many useless services)

Shut down all the useless services, like all the crap that Realplayer and variuos other 3rd party programs install, all that stuff consumes processor threads, as well as attempting to auto update thus loading up your processor and network card.

Get more memory, if you have less than 1gb of ram then your goin to have issues regardless of what else you set, for EQ2 you really want 2gb

My hardware and OS, simple, windows XP SP2 and all the hotfixes, A middle of the range Gigabyte motherboard, a 2.8ghz Intel prescott processor, 2gb of ram and a low end Nvidia 128mb FX-5200.

Run a spyware detect and remove frequently (mine runs at startup, and from experiance the best I have used and what I use now is Xoft Spy)

If you are computer litterate, do what I have always done for gaming, do a second install of your OS, patch it up, install the game and nothing else. Dont use that install for web browsing or anything, no MSN etc. when you want to craft (with Xunleashed), afk or not, you can't use anything else on your PC anyway.

You can atleast debug the issues you do have with a nice clean system, no other crap to clog up your systems pipes.

Oh, one last thing, if your going to stop a script from running, like the HarvestBot one for example, stop the script whilst it's performing a stationary action, like harvesting or looking, if you stop it whilst your toon is running around it will possibly hang and your toon may end up running around uncontrolably, and that can be suicidal :)

I think this is the first time I have ever posted on theses boards, I have been a subscriber to Xunleashed for 3 years (i have a few different Xui accounts, as I usually run 2 game instances at once) and I feel compelled to say a great big thanks to Wyvernx for making a great product, I reacon for an 'Illegal' app the support is awsome

I hope this has helped..

Oops, the 5th paragraph should read:

The application window, like the script window or the radar etc need to have a 'background', meaning that you need to have your paperdoll, or the normal in game map window (any command window will do) open and running behind the Xunleashed game window in order to make configuration changes, but once the changes to that particular Xunleashed window have ben made you can then close the 'background' window.

Sorry about that...

First I would like to say thanks for the info about having you persona window behind the X-unleashed window. Exceptionaly useful.

I would like to make a correction about the crafter missing buffs only due to latency. It can miss events not due to latency but because of Queing when you use buffs every round example:

Buffs lay out:
#1: -progress/+durability
#2: -Power/+durability
#3: -success chance/+durability

Buffs #1 and #3 are set fo be used every round

Round 1: nothing (for some reason it dosen't start off with buffs.)
Round 2: No event: it uses buffs 1&3
Round 3: Event requiering buff 1. it uses buff #1 thinking it counter the event, however the event is not countered because the re-use timer is nto up and it only Que's it. It then uses buff #3; automaticaly dequeing buff #1 and uses the wrong buff for the event. All non-provisioner classes are then hit for damage if the event is bad enoulgh (smiths are almost killed) while Provisioners take no damage at all.

Some background info: Between me and my wife we have all the crafting classes and untill the Provisioner buffs were fixed reciently my wife (the provisioner) found it easier to let it do it's own thing and to not use her buffs at all.

And you only need 1gb of ram to use the crafter resonably.

Thanx soooo much. Very nice of you to take the time to clear alot of niggly issues up in one great post here. I must admit, I am one of those who did not know that you have to have an EQ2 window behind the plugins I was using!

Many Thanks

With the new patch I'm unable to left click OR right click to open crafting interface. I get the error message "You must have station targeted for this action".

Doesn't happen if I don't have xunleashed running. I do have the persona interface behind the crafting. I've otherwise been able to use the program without problems (for the most part).
