You have to start crafting.
Do you know how to craft yet?
Head to the crafting zone in your home town and join the society by talkin to the NPC outside the door for it.
Then go in and start crafting.
When you hit level 10 crafting, you will need to pick a crafting career. Choose Scholor to make spells.

I'm very interested in same subject.. but just dont know for sure what to do. I have joined my society in Willow Wood..and i can use the workshop. Just don't know what to do with all of it. I'm still working on the second task for the society guy. so I guess my questions are:
Should I finish all those missions?
What am I supposed to craft?
If somone could help explain the process to me better that would be great...but right now im sure I can craft a tin spike..but making that over and over to get to lvl10 prob wont work and be a waste of money! ... i think.. plz help! Thanks

Read my Spice thread.
Buy stacks of Salt, Pepper, and Water (the aerotated water or whatever it is).
Then make Spice (Packet of Spice)
Be sure to constantly twist the buffs so you can make delectable spice (teir 4) spice every time. yea, just hit a spice buff every tick.
That alone will get you to 10 in no time.

Do you have to have recipies to craft ? I'm so confused with the whole crafting thing. I've read on another website that you can make over 2g per hour by crafting totems when you're about level 13 craftsman. I would love to be able to craft as I found it very rewarding in other games. I'm just soooooo lost when it comes to doing the same thing in EQ2. Where do I begin ?!

Where do I get my level 10 crafting quest please? I intend to go scholar, and I reached 104% of level 9 this morning and it said I need to do a quest to advance to level 10 but I have no idea at all where to get the quest and although I looked around I don't see where it comes from. Thanks for your help

Totems were nerfed.
To start crafting, you have to buy crafting books.
Ie, the beginning crafting book is Artisan Essentials Volume 3. (for level 3 crafter)
You can only scribe books that are the same or below your level crafting.
Now, to get past level 9, you have to do the same sub-class quest like you did for your main adventure class.
In west freeport, there is a building called Coalition of Tradesfolk. Go there. Upstairs is the gal you talk to to decide your chosen career in crafting.

Ok, I have another question about that. I am working on outfitter. I am a level 11 outfitter, but I have no idea where to go to buy my outfitter books? I joined the society in my home town (I'm a troll, so it is Ransacker's Alley in Big Bend). Am I supposed to join another society that is for outfitters only, which would then sell the book? If so, any ideas where that is? Thanks for your help.

Yes you join the outfitter society.
That is the society that gives out crafting quests. You can join 2 societys. One is a wholeseller socieyt, the other is a class society.
There should be 4 crafting zones in each slum area. 1 wholeseller, and 3 class ones.
