Okay, I know ADEPT I are the skills/spells you learn that are commonly dropped by mob's. They are better than Apprentice but not as good as Master. But what are the other Adept skills? Meaning what are Adept III, Adept IV, etc etc...I havent really dug around enough to find out exactly what they are and I dont have the resources to experiment. I dont want to waste my precious gold on something that is worthless to my character.
As far as ADEPT goes, is ADEPT I the most powerful? Are the others simply potions and scrolls that have a temporary effect? If you had all the gold in the world, what would you buy? An ADEPT I skill or something else.?
Also I would like to know what all those potions are for, the hundreds you can buy from the NPC Alchemists. Does anyone have a list or know how to figure out what all these potions actually do? The names and pictures are pretty cool, but I kind of miss the simplicity of Red Potions are for health and Blue are for Mana/Power/Spells or whatever you want to call it.

Spell order from worst to best ... Apprentice I, II, III, IV, Adept I, II, III, Master I.
Apprentice I is what you get from leveling. App II is store bought. App III and IV are player made with IV being made from a preistine combine. Adept I and Master I are mob drops. Adept II has yet to show up in game to the best of my knowledge but an assuming that eventually these will be sold by vendors. Adept III are player made from rare components so they are usually just made to order and you typically will need to supply the crafter with the rare.
As to the potions ... I know that the Tier 3 heal potion only heals for about 100 but beyond that I have not done much experimentation.

Thanks for your input, that is pretty much what I was looking for. I have never really been into potions. I guess I just don’t like the temporary effect that I have to continually expend my resources on. That’s just me though, due to the success of alchemists I gather not many other people feel this way.
So for me, my goal is to gather the resources needed for an Adept III Skill/Spell and pay someone else to create it for me.

Actually you will need to find 2 people to make an adept 3 really. Someone needs to take the rare and make pristine ink (an alchamist) and then you need a Sage (for caster) or Jewler (for melee) to make the Adept 3.
I have seen the potions make enough difference to let a lvl 28 Guardian tank Stiletto and his friends. Without it he would not have made it through more then half the fight. This is what got my interest in the potions. I have been meaning to make a few to test them. Basically anyone can make the Tier 1 potions so no reason not to at least try them and see what they do. I am betting they are going to play a bigger part in end game strategies. And when that happens you will see big money getting spent on them. Think of invis potions and SoW potions in EQ1.

huh?
If you are meaning to say that you saw an App 5 then you don't know your Roman numerals. There is no App 5, Adept 4 or 5, or anything higher then Master 1

According to the PRIMA EQ2 guide there are levels 1-4 (I, II, III, IV) of each (Apprentice, Adept, Master).
Of the Adept levels it says:
ADEPT I: This is Uncommon loot. All spells are avialable this way.
ADEPT II: This can only be found as the reward for a difficult quest. Not many spells are available this way.
ADEPT III: This is an Uncommon crafted item, which requires are rare harvest (drop). All spells are available this way.
ADEPT IV: This can only be cound as the reward for an epic quest. Few spells are available this way.
Note that some spells do not continue on to Master level.
Of the Master levels it says:
MASTER I: This is Rare loot. All spells are available this way.
MASTER II: This is a special event reward. They're available when they're available.
MASTER III: This is a Rare crafted item, which requires an extremely rare drop or a multi-group encounter. Some spells are available this way.
MASTER IV: This basically combines Adept IV and Master III - an epic quest with an extremely rare drop or a multi-group encounter drop. Few spells are available this way.
spell = art = spell

I have a bunch of adept II skills/spells. They are gained from the class choices you get every 5 levels or so (you know the green + glowing in the corner).

Close
Sage = Caster Spells
Jeweller = Scout Runes
Alchemist = Melee Essences
All 3 require inks made by alchemist.
Suzuri Ink = 10 - 19 Adept spells made form Coral/Silver
Indigo Ink = 20-29 Adept spells made from Jasper/Palladium

Actually the inks can be made by either a sage alchemist or jeweler as well. They just cost the sage and jeweler more fuel to make them.
And some bits of advice on upgrading your skills.
Don't upgrade any spells you get from level 1-10 total waste of money. You can actually make most of these yourself if you want to do a bit of crafting. If you truly feel you want them upgraded then do it yourself.
Pay attention to what abilities you use when your level 20. Most of the level 1-10 skill will have been replaced at this point. Upgrade the skills you use the most. Which will probably be about 6-10 main skills may be more or less depending on class. And use most would really be any skill you use in every combat.
From 20-30 some abilites may still be replaced but alot of new ones will come online. Here is where you really need to start to upgrade any that you have not already upgraded.
Any drop books you get for any skill you know you should learn.
If you see a app 3 scroll for sale don't buy it. Instead look at the name of the person that made the scroll contact them and get them to make a app4 instead. A 3 is a total waste of your money.
If you want to collect your own rares and have someone make you a adept then you need to mine the rocks not the ores. All inks come from the rock spawns not the ore spawns.

Rare stone needed for Rare ink for Adept IIIs:
Tier 1 (levels 1-9): Lapis or copper
Tier 2 (levels 10-19): Silver of Coral
Tier 3 (levels 20-29): Jasper or Palladium
Tier 4 (levels 30-39): Opal or Ruthenium
Tier 5 (levels 40-50): Ruby or Rhodium
Anything with the the name listed about in it will work as long as its not faceted or jewelry (opal ring would NOT work, whereas Dyhydrated Opal would)

couldn't disagree more. Whenever I make a twink (with 2 accts, 1 being all access, for a total of 18 slots, I have alot of alts), the first thing I do is get my tier 1 spells made as adept 3s. I tear through my teens this way, cutting the time it takes to get to 20 almost in half. If you said t1 gear, then yes, that is a waste of time. But upgrading t1 spells is definately not, if you can afford it.
