So... how's the game currently? : EverQuest 2 General Discussions

I've been having second thoughts about EQ2 lately, due to my guild in WoW falling apart.

I quit back before the first expansion (pvp?) was released. At the time, the grind was just way to much for me... even in a group. I managed to get to 27, but it just seemed so broing and repetitive. That and my server (kithicor) seemed to be one of the more less populated ones out there, so it would take more than an hour to find a good solid group to grind with.


Basically what I want to know is;



Has experience changed any? (solo and group)

What expansions have come out? Which ones are worth buying?

Have servers become more populated (kithicor specificaly)? Have there been any merges?

Are there paid server transfers atm?

Is there any way for a noob to catch up and get in a good guild? Or is it too late?

Has the economy changed? I remember a horse costing like 1+ plat and I only had 30 gold at the time... it seemed imposible to afford a hourse unless of course you had a class specific one.

1) Yes. Depending on class you can solo faster then some. Pet classes are best for this; Grouping is essentially THE best way to level. You can solo easily to level 20 in a day. SoE also uses a WoW like feature for xp called vitality were you earn more xp when you have more vitality.

2a) Full expansions: Desert of Flames and Kingdom of Sky. Both increased levels from 50 to 60, and 60 to 70. Kingdom of Sky comes with DoF so you just have to buy one.

2b) Three Adventure packs so far: Bloodlines, Splitpaw and Fallen Dynasty. Definetly get Splitpaw, but the other two aren't that great.

3) Servers were merged in the past few months. Kithicor merged with Neriak. You shouldn't have too many issues with population.

4) You can easily catch up if you have a lot of play time.

5) Economy has changed a lot. If you don't want a horse there is a carpet quest in DoF that gives 40% speed carpet. And another in a very tough raid zone in KoS.

Wow, 20 in one day you say? They must have definetly made it a lot more solo friendly.

I have all summer to waste, so yeah I'll have lots of time on my hands to level.

well so far i been on eq2 for about well few months cuz i quit wow during spring break i really think wow was a really big mistake.First i had a 60 hunter and a 48 made few other//not important but id have to say that eq2 is so far better then wow ever was and will be because lots more to do soe listends to your bug reports and they help alot alot so far in eq2 i have had more pvp fun because more of a point you even get half there money when you pawn em lol. But imo wow was a good ez game to start my mmorpg gameing life but i really wish i quit wow much sooner i mean wow boreing never added new stuff and eq is comeing out with there like 3d expansion and wow has not even come out with one... whats that tell u heh > The fact is that eq2 cares and helps the players and right after a adventure pack comes boom son after they start another one but yes i really think eq2 is going to be like the first 1 and last for 10 year + heh gl with your pick i hope you pick the right one ( eq2 ) lol but ya gl

I don't like to rip on people but after the first few words I can't read on because it's just one long blah blah blah. If your trying convince people that EQ2 is better than WoW then effective writing and pucntuation go a long way.

I'm just going to have to say you should probably quit all MMOs together and go back to school.

To be honest it's really not that solo friendly unless you play a pet class. The reason you can to 20 in a day is:

1) You can get to about level 9 on the newb isle
2) You can run probably 30-50 city based quests and get to 11-12 almost
3) There are a lot of low level collection quests that can get you to 15
4) You can run around and get discovery xp from all over the zones including the city's.
5) They made it easier to level 20 because the number of people playing at those low levels isn't that many. After 20 it get's harder to solo, but again this going to depend on class.

i mean i don't play eq2 so i'm sure you could play that better, and in fact i don't really care if you can play mmos better than i can.
