"Hello all,
Sorry I haven't been able to post a lot lately but we've been busy, busy busy. I wanted to clear up a few of the questions/concerns about the tradeskill instances and how they are going to work.
The tradeskill social structures are what all of the different zones are for in all of the villages/districts. Each village/district has 4 different tradeskill social structures. One for each of the classes (Outfitter, Craftsman, Scholar) and a Wholesaler structure. The class social structures are to allow people to gain tradeskill levels by defraying some of the costs through the social structure. The wholesaler social structure allows for a structure that everyone can join that has different sets of tasks.
When you enter your city of choice after leaving the Isle of Refugee you can join the wholesaler social structure. This social structure isn't limited by what adventuring or tradeskill profession you have chosen. A member inside of the area will give you tasks to go harvest from the wilderness and bring them back the resources they require. When you return with what they ask for they will take the items that they requested. They will then reward you with an amount of coin and the standing of the structure will go up slightly. After you have possibly gained a few tradeskill levels and some coin by harvesting some components for your self as well as some for the structure you will be near your choice of class for your tradeskiller.
Once you choose your class you can join the appropriate class structures also located in the villages/districts. This social structure is limited to your specific tradeskill class choice. Once you enter your new haven you will notice there will be a member inside much like the one in the wholesaler structure. This NPC is different though. They will assign you tasks to make items from common recipes that someone of your level/class/subclass should have. They will ask you to make the items for them and then return the finished products when you are done. When you return after gaining some experience from completing the recipes the NPC will take their requested items and reward you with an amount of coin and the structure will gain some standing.
Benefits to the Artisan:
You can progress through your tradeskill levels while making a small profit by doing the tasks from your class social structure. You can gain a profit by harvesting your own resources and some for the wholesaler social structure at the same time. The wholesaler area will provide a gathering place for both adventurers and tradeskills to talk shop/trade/mingle. As your social structure gains more standing merchants might sell new things that weren't previously there. There will be a broker in all of the social structure zones that you can purchase items off of.
