Power Leveling, Power Drops : EverQuest 2 Premium Discussions

Goal: Get insane XP and loot for your alts.

Prerequisites:

0. Requires two accounts, so you need to double box or work with a friend. I prefer working with a friend.

1. Level a main to T6. All the way to 60 for best results. I like Guardians because it is almost impossible for a lower tier warlock to steal aggro if the Guardian knows what he's doing, but we've used Wizards too.

2. Start any high DPS class, get it to sublcass. Twink up the attacks and gear that gives you better attacks through stats, don't worry about defense. We've done this with a Warlock, an Assassins and a Monk.

3. Take your level 20-25's to Fallen Gate. From 25-31 go to RoV, from 31-38 I recommend Runnyeye, from 39-45 head for Cazic Thule, after that Permafrost. It won't work beyond Permafrost right now. Use grouping to grey out stuff you don't want to fight. Remember to ungroup before you pick off the named mobs.

The method:

Key to this is that the high level toon must be positioned to take control of the mob after the low-level toon pulls. The high level Guardian in our Guaridan/Warlock method would position himself directly in front of the warlock between the warlock and the Golems in RoV. The warlock would pull and pause, the guardian would taunt and use Maddening Defense. It roots the Guardian but the mob generates nice encounter-wide hate with every attack. The warlock takes a breath, let's the guardian lock it in for 10-30 seconds depending on how scarey the mob is, and starts whacking away with every damage spell she's got (get them to Ad3, it makes things go much faster).

Our warlock, at level 26 was getting 9% / golem in RoV and it took 2-3 minutes to take it down. The golems were yellow and the drop rate was insanely high.

We did this same thing with an Assassin and Wizard in Fallen Gate. The Assassin was level 25 and the Wizard was level 60. We got 3 master drops in 30 minutes and the Assassin got 50% of level.

It won't work on Epic mobs but only because Epic mobs automatically lock the encounter to prevent outside help.

For epics (like Ladon yesterday), we use mentoring because a level 55 Guardian mentoring to 29 is a lot tougher than the level 29 Guardians we're seeing running about.

It would be simpler to just kill the mob down to about 55% and let your alt kill it off while it has agro from you. Alt just needs to do 51% of the damage.

one way i do it, is i have my friend pull the mob, and i got a 1 sec casting time snare, so i just hit that and send my tank pet in w/ his defense stance so he gets agro and doesnt do much damage, after pet gets agro, i just have my friend dps the mob out, i dont realy do the 51% damage thing when powerleveling just 1 guy, but when i PL a whole grp, they get him to below 50%, root/stun him, and i finish him off while they go for another mob

I just pull with a bowshot (or any ranged) and then hit taunt with my main. Seems to work well.. I guess having a high level warrior w/taunts really helps the most.

Does the person being powerleveled need to do 51% damage to the monster being killed?


I haven't seemed ot need the 51%, do you get more exp or something if you do 51%?

Could someone that is SURE please explain this,

Non-raid encounters have been changed as follows:
* There are no longer lock icons on you or your enemies.
* The first group or person to attack a creature will receive any reward it grants upon death, including loot and experience.
* Other players can assist in your fight by damaging your enemies or healing you.
* You will receive a reduced XP reward if your group contributes less than 50% of the damage needed to kill something.
* You can change group options and add/remove people from groups while fighting (note that fighting raid encounters still prevents this).
* Damage credit is correctly tracked if you add people helping you to the group before something dies.
* Any faction increase or decrease the creature grants will be applied to everyone the creature hates when it dies.
* If you prefer to keep outside players from assisting or interfering with the fight, you can use the /lock command. /lock will lock the targeted

Tried this last night and it would not allow changing of group options or invites while fighting, everything was grey untill we finished killing the mob.

If you want to get full exp then the person being power leveled needs to do 51%. If you don't do that much the exp is scaled down based on how much exp they do. Technicall you could do 1 point of damage and still get exp it just won't be very much.

Maybe it only works in raid situations... /boggle, all I know is I had to wait till we were done killing the Caretaker in SC untill I could invite our last group member. Maybe a flag in options you have to flip?
