It works, but you can do the same thing by pressing Standby on your cable modem. It makes PVP pointless IMO, but to each their own. They have already stated they'll be doing something about people dropping out in LU25. So, come then, you'll be coming back dead instead of behind someone.

Although what the OP says is true, i also find it pretty pointless. Places where you can run freely for that amount of time without hitting any obsticles or groups of mobs is pretty damn small. Theres also the fact that half the classes are ranged anyway.
I think this would be a pretty foolhardy way to attempt an escape from a PvPer.

not pointless IMHO.... this is why.
your running arround antonica... you see a Qtard, you push standy on your modem, run up behind him, sick your pets, cast your spells, go off of standby... the guy didnt even see it coming... and he will be down to 50% FAST...
element of surprise = best thing in pvp

in a sense it is pointless but only in some zones ie lavastorm theres not enough room to do it or u might run into the lava etc but in zone such as antonica commonlands thundering steppes enchaned lands or everfrost it's nice because the SERVER reads you as still on a playing and running, and because it reads you as still playing you're able to log right back in, only when you log in the client tells the server "No you're wrong im HERE" and so thats where you come in at

i still think it kicks !@#$%^&*, there are so many variations to this... i.e. sprint non stop...
click sprint, click [standby], run... sprint does not run out..., click [standby] again and immidiatly cancel sprint... (your sprint will only be down like 10%)
this is great, to evade those godamn groups that jump on you... i.e. (you see a group of orange cons in the distance coming at you, you pull out the standby trick, and they have no f*ing clue where you went)

btw its arround 1 minute to 1.5 minutes that you can have standby on untill eq2 drops you, when you come back from drop you are where you started, if you get off standby before you started you will warp to the spot where you are
