The quickest way to raise your ranged skill in game is to pull a monster (a green or blue preferably) to the end of its agro range. Then while it just stands there begin to shoot it with your bow. Because you are still attacking it, it doesnt run away but never attacks you back either. So if you buy like 2 stacks of tin arrows you should get about 25 lvls which is very helpfull if you are like me and dont use archery alot but want it to work when you do.
I got about 35 lvls of ranged skill in the commons pulling foulgorn and the named orc generall to the end of thier agro ranges and just shooting stacks of cheap tin arrows. Now with a green bow and normal arrows i do like 300+ damage with my ranged bow attacks at lvl 32. It helps out alot if you need to kite something to finnish it off it.

Just to clarify a bit the NPC no longer attacks you when you run it to the end of its agro range but it no longer takes damage from you either. So you can't kill the NPC but you can raise your skills up on it while afk.
A few other tricks I've learned with agro ranges involve assassins rat pet that you get as a fun spell at lvl 20. If you run something to the end of its agro range while your pet is up it begins to kill your pet. While it's fighting your pet you can finnish it off without ever getting the agro back. So you can use those huge back attacks that you normally can't use when soloing. This works well with blue and green mobs but you have to keep in mind that once your pet dies the NPC gets all of its health back.
Another trick to pull solo mobs without agroing others is to get your pet up and put it in the spot were it is safe to fight. Then use your stalk or shadow spell to pull the mob and it will go strait for your pet. This way you can still get an assassins blade or ebon blade attack off and not have to worry about adds.
Also on certain mobs it is possible to get them to attack your pet the whole time by pulling with the shadow or stalk then evading before you attack. This works well on bears in Nek and I've done it accidentally a few times in EL. This seems to work best on agro animal type NPCs like bears or snakes and isn't all that usefull since you still must kill it before it kills your little friend. Still it is fun to do and allows you to use your big attacks on the creatures.
I can't confirm but I am pretty sure that these "tricks" will work with rangers pets and classes other familiers.

Although these are all very good tricks, they will not warrent you a free prem membership. We look for exploits, guides and macros. Not tricks.
Sorry, better luck next time.

Oh i won't say that they are that useless and using the fun pets this way is definitively an exploit... ;)

You serious? I thought they were pretty obvious. Plus i'm 90% sure that when a mob hits its agro range you don't get any XP, or loot, and some times you just don't damage it at all.
All that pet stuff are things i already do my self, i thought it was common knowledge.

Well, this is why we have 2 EQ2 mods, not everyone thinks the same.

When your assassins pet gets agro you can finnish off the mob and you will get exp and loots from it. As long as you dont run it to the guard or yell for help you will still get exp as if you finnished it off normally. I say its not all that usefull because I normally dont have my rat up and I have to evac out of close fights, but ever since they have added the hard solo encounters I have been useing it alot finnishing off wasps of darkness in EL. The pet tricks are usefull its just not something you would do every fight.
Anyway the exploit I think is most usefull is the first one I posted. I use that one every few levels to max out my ranged skill without having to try and use it in groups. Its the one I posted for access the other post was just a sort of mini guide for using assassins rat pets.
