Hi everyone! I would like to take this opertunity to find out what this forum has to offer, i know all those exploits and stuff but what about on terms of helpfulness? I have read allot of these post, at first i see some good info but after that its just allot of people flaming each other. I dont know about allot of you but i have better things to do then to read flames Anyways I am also new to this game, i would like some info on it. I have a few questions. 1) Am i forced to party with people? (not totally but as in terms of leveling) 2) I hear money is hard to make, is this true? 3) Are MOST people nice? 4) is BLM good all the way to the lvl cap (i want to be a BLM)

1)you are not forced to lvl at first, but when your about lvl 10 you should start getting exp with parties.2)Money is hard to make at a low lvl. 3) most people are nice, but occasionally you run into those "think thier better than everyone else people." 4) blm does good damage post lvl 15, but lvl 15 and under, iv found that they do less damage than me.
hope this helps

oh dylan, BLM does ultamate dmg ^^ you might say RNG, but RNG cant MB, or use monsters weakness element, or debuff, or warp/warpII or escape ^^. BLM is so much more reliable, and cheaper.

rng got no downtime and the scs they make is more than some ancient magic. e.g. freeze. scs can do up to 1k dmg. not ws, SC.

I'll agree that the BLM can do more damage than a RNG, assuming that you know a monster's elemental weakness or that it even has one. However, the BLM's complete lack of any melee ability whatsoever just turns me off, because there are times when you just can't find a worthwhile group, and in my experience the BLM is next to worthless soloing. Furthermore, only by moving yourself can the RNG's shots be disrupted, but try using powerful elemental magic against a creature with a high attack rate and see how quick you die. For a general damage dealer, the RNG is king. BLM's ability to deal massive damage is based on too many "ifs". IF the monster has an element weakness and IF you know it and IF you can actually cast a big boomer without being hit during casting, you can outdo the RNG. And, as Dylan says, the RNG doesn't have to rest after every tough fight, and the BLM does. In a good party a BLM can do monster damage, but a RNG can do it under ANY circumstances.

Wait a second... Masamune the first post is dated Jun 4th, 2004. Between then and the first reply (June 10th), you managed to raise a new character to 40 BLM/WHM? Holy crap!

He must have bought the character off someone or something. I've been in a party of 28-29s being power-levelled by a 75 WHM who knew one of us. Even with that kind of uber-healing next to us, we managed about 5000 xp per hour, and we were hustlin, even when the WHM had to rest we pulled weaker stuff to maintain the flow. Considering that you can't stay in one place for more than 3 or 4 levels to maintain that kind of pace, there is no possible way you could level a character to 40 in one week without a time machine. It can't be done.
