I was told from a friend in the military who plays FFXI that job abilities and 2 hours are based on your internet hardware clock that transmits information to the server, that it is not in fact server-side.
Do any of you mods, or some of the better programmers, know of this? The JP can spam job abilities almost constantly and I was told that is was because there is a hack that speeds up your bios clock to make your two-hour ability reusable in 5 minutes.
Do any of you guys know the specifics of this? You don't have to answer the topic publicly if you don't want to, as I have some information but I am missing a few pieces of the puzzle.
A private message would be fine. Do you think that this kind of "hack" is still around?
Thanks again for your help; was just trying to crack this code. Have a great day.

Evidence? None.
You haven't even accurately checked the frequency which these JP players supposedly use abilities at.
Chance this works? 2%, imo, being positive.
Chance this works after a week of being on this side (if it does in the first place) 0%.

members of the forums have sped up their cpu and noticed it counted down faster as have i a couple times. i had my comp set to 2x the speed and the countdown was indeed faster but when the countdown finished an hour earlier as it should have due to the increase of speed. diffrence was that when i tried to use any JA sooner than it should have been due to the increase it just said that it was not ready and to wait longer. i forget the exact message the thing gives you but it was the same message that when you use a ja when its not ready so it says you cant.

it sounds logical but at the same time i would think that they would base it on ffxi time clock to avoid that

i think the client side timer is sped up, but that really doesnt mean anything because to use the 2 hour the client needs to validate with the server. bassically, your changing what you see, and not whats happening.

exactly what my wall-o'-text said. you can speed up the client but it wont do anything to the real countdown kept by the server
