Chocobo Raising : FFXI General Discussions

So you've patiently raised this chocobo for 30 days, watched it grow, spent lots of gil buying over-priced food for it's illnesses and injuries that simply appear out of nowhere, all for one purpose right?

To ride the !@#$%^&*.

Now, the legs are "Sturdy and ready to ride" but wait! you must get a bird whistle from the dude in Sandy.

So you grab an over-priced tele, or waist ISP to get a silver piece and OP warp from your home country, or take the airship and waste 15-30 mintues of your life, to find out that your chocobo likes to hide things.

Well now, since this guy is the professional and knows for a fact that your chocobo likes to hide things, (since that's what they ALL do apparently) it's your job to find it.

So, now you're stumped, you try to talk to brutus, nothin.
You try to talk to your choco caregiver, nothin. So, you go to bed still without that chocobo you want so bad.

Next day, IF you happen to go on a walk with your chocobo (long), you get the option to search for it's items. WELL, if you dont find them, I don't recommend trying that walk again. Try a different one.

I'm ASSUMING this is how you find the items, which is a real f*ckin pain in the !@#$%^&* because if you use up all it's energy (like I did) before you find them, you're stuck for a whole 'nother day.

I do not know for sure, so if anyone has succesfully found the items and gotten the bird whistle, I would appreciate it if you let me know what you did.

My advice: Don't do two long walks... Try for long, short, and regular walk, in that order.

When something doesn't work..... Get a bigger hammer XD

To get the item, take your chocobo for a walk, and use the option. Do not go on the same walk more then once, it will most likely be on the (short) walk.

You'll get a dirty handkerchief. It's the same one you gave to the chocobo with your scent on it when it was just a baby (how touching.)

Dont use up all it's energy before you get the item or you're SOL for another day >:|
