"class not registered" : FFXI General Discussions

soon as i downloaded this update and it restarted a window popped up and said "class not registered" and wouldnt let log on so what does this mean anyone else have this problem?

You downloaded what update? FFXI?, Windower?, XU?, Windows?

Reinstall FFXI.

If you are asking for help, it helps us out if you explain things completely when you ask. Explain what the window looks like maybe? was it a POL window or a window from you operating system? If the message pops up from Windows XP, it usually means a registry error or file association error.

I assume you mean the ffxi update released the other day. By restart you mean POL ? I'm not sure how far into POL you are able to get but usually a problem with the registry or files can be fixed by doing that POL check files thing. It fixed an issue I had a while back where POL would free when I clicked the shortcut to ffxi.

If all else fails, reinstall ffxi like oskarek said.

about 30 mins after maintenance started for the update, you could download the update during maintenance. It took me about 10 mins total to download the update ^^ (this doesn't seem to happen every update maintenance, but has two times so far that I've found) looks for it next time and dont get caught in the mass confusion after maintenance is completed trying to download and getting busy server errors ;;
