is there something in ffxi that automatically gives you a connection lost if you stay idle or stay in the same area for too long? because i heard from friend about SE made that to prevent ppl from dieing if they fell asleep. well that isnt't helping lol, i left the bot overnight and in the morning i find the connection lost msg on screen i think i came across a post about getting rid of the timer or something to prevent you from disconnecting. pls give me a link to that post or tell me if you know ty.
P.S my friend might be talking about the config > global > auto-disconnect feature, but i have it to off so it wont ever disconnect. but i keep getting connection lost almost every night i left bot on.

Theres a few reasons, first as the other post entailed, there is an auto disconnection timer, you can turn that off in the menu while playing.
Second could be your internet connection, even if your connected at all times there is something thats like a blip or whatever you want to call it, causes you to lose connection for periods of time anywhere from 1 second to a few minutes.
Thats all I can think of from firsthand experience. Remember, google is your friend, search a bit before posting

lol , im guessing it wouldnt have been better if the other character that was standing alone doing nothing didnt get disconnected, because if he didnt, then that means a GM is watching ur bottin character, and that u are 99% out of 100% close of getting banned =)

there are a lot of things that would DC you... most have to do with either your screen saver or power settings OR your timeout settings in FFXI. If you are getting connection errors when you return to the PC you may want to check your windows power settings. I use to have no problems with letting windows turn off my monitor after 2 hours, but now it freezes FFXI. if you are actually just being logged out of FFXI and not getting errors... then you need to check the POL and FFXI settings on timeouts. If left unattended for too long there are settings on your end that will log you out of the game.
But DC'ing has also been a horrible problem lately in FFXI - you could be simply DC'ing from server congestion or a weak internet connection on your end.

lol yea if my other char standing doing nothing didnt get dc, then im really in trouble also i turned off the auto disconnect in ffxi to prevent it from logging me out, i also dont have screensaver on, and i turned the power options to never switoff screen or computer. and i use cable at 100MB speed. ^^; i guess its the server or sometimes a little connection problem could get me dced. sure would be nice if it wouldnt dc me that much though.

well
/em puts foot in mouth...
I was camping the two war-machines, Wallbreacher and Barricader, for several hours straight in Ghelsba Outpost AND................... I got DC'd in a very strange manor. I was not loosing connection - I have everything tuned off..... and I was watching the screen when it happened. I just suddenly skipped out to a POL error message. I had been camping them for about 4 hours. It is possible it is some kind of anti-bot code Square put into play to stop people from camping NMs with bots for long periods of time.
BTW today was the first time in a long time, like over a year, I had used a Voke Bot to camp... I have heard of some kind of rules about zoning every so often to avoid the anti-bot codes. They speak of it a lot in the AC Tools forums.

I get knocked offline at least once a day anymore. When I first started playing about a yr ago I never had any problems leavin a mule on in town all night but I have given up tryin anymore it seems that I leave and come back within a 15 minute time period and I see the POL error screen on. I tried turning stuff off also and have had no luck what so ever. I think SE is just sick of seein all the Mules Bazarring in town so they came up with something to give ya the boot.
