Coral Fragments? : FFXI General Discussions

Well I've recently gotten my lu shangs rod, which means I can start going after these little money makers.

Problem is, I've tried fishing pretty much everywhere they are, den of rancor, SSG, korroloka, onzozo, everywhere.

In SSG I just fished in all the random ponds on the first map, and did a couple casts in the pond past the silver gate, dunno if I'll need to go through the mythril/gold gates...

I fished in every damn single pond/river/pool of water in all of korroloka, using an extreme wide variety of baits and lures, and all I caught was rusty stuff.

In den of rancor, I fished in the pond on the second map after entering from yhoater jungle (theres actually spot you can stand by at the water, where you're out of aggro rnage of all the mobs, gonan go here to catch ryugu titans later)

Once again, all I kept hooking was pamtam kelp and rusty buckets using little worms and minnows.

In the labrynth of onzozo, I found several spots to fish, including the one that is actually labeled as the fishing spot, where I could cast out of aggro range. I tried using little worms and minnows, just as I've been recommended, and all I got was 25/30 no bites, and 5 rusties...

I even had the HQ swimsuit from this yea,r so I tele'd over to purgonogo and cast there, nothing.

I'm level 50 some fishing, have lu shangs, and 10 rusty buckets in my mh.

About a month ago SE did a patch that gimped the area udner SSG's bridge to hell. From what I see they've in fact gimped every single area in all of vana'diel that had cora fragments.

Kind of stupid, how the hell are we exected to keep the supply going?

In other words, rumour is that SE has not compeltely removed them, just stuck them in other spots all over. A couple people told me they randomly fished some up in Rabao the other day, tried it a bit, dunno.

I think I'm gonna try out the oasis, valkurm, and a couple other spots that are possibilities...

Ok well I'm gonna just bump this, as it's been several months...

Has anyone yet figured out if these are still fishable?

I've spent countless hours set up SSG, Den of Rancor, and onzozo, to no avail.

Still using wide variaty of baits and lures, nothing, nothing, nothing, and more nothing.

Decided to check if SE had made it area specific like in buburimu shall shells. checked out spots like on top of the bridge in SSG, nothing.

Den of rancor was pretty much empty, but after 20 casts it was cut short via aggro.

Has anyone anywhere managed to pull of a coral fragment since the nerf? These things used to net you 1-2 million gil a day, and I don't think SE would entirely gimp these after setting up over 40 goblin bounty hunters in korroloka alone.

Well before i got banned in all my accounts.... hehehe i used to have all crafts leveled but nothing worth like the coral itself so i used to fish in korroloka tunnel but i used a bunch of rogue rigs, i used my crafter to make tons of this rigs and stuff them to my fishermens, that was the only way i could do corals... i got like 2 stacks a day on that setup

There used to be an abundance of these laying about in Korroloka Tunnel, pretty much everywhere. However after the past couple of nerfs to the fishing system that were made, they usually only appear in the pond within Korroloka Tunnel, and even then, VERY rarely. (1/35)

Presently, your best bet for fishing them up would be to do so in the Sea Serpent Grotto, which has the largest chance of Coral Fragment catches since the updates.

They're still considered rare, now, but you'll get a lot more there than you ever will in Korroloka.

Well so far I've done over 100 casts in SSG all over the place and haven't gotten one coral fragment. At all. Nowhere.

Like I said, i know you used to be able to catch them here and there. I know the used to make good money, and etc etc.

What I'm wondering is if anyone has ever even caught one? Like hooked it? Somewhere? Anywhere? Please no more "well 5 months ago I was catchign them here and they made good money before the patch..."

I know this. We all know this. From what I've seen coral fragments have been removed entirely from the zones. 0/200 in Labirynth now. I can definitely say there are NO fragments in these areas:

Labyrinth of Onzozo

Sea Serpent Grotto (under bridge)

Sea Serpent Grotto (main ponds on first map)

Still need to test behind gold and mythril door...

Korroloka tunnel still gives em but so damn rare its not worth it. Talking like 1 every hour or so....

Still need to more vigorously test purgonogo...

That's all I'm really getting. Coral fragments have all but been completely wiped from fishing. Only way now it seems are killing sahigins and chocobo digging... D:
