Duped itemes due to server recovery : FFXI General Discussions

Today SE had to recover Diablos server. Just before the d/c I was leveling nin in the dunes. My blm friend came out to deliver me my next few levels of gear as my party was doing well and I leveled more than expected. He traded me 8 items, then I traded him 8 items. I equiped what he gave me and he warped back and sent the 8 items I have him to my delivery box. Within 5 minutes (probably a lot less) the server does down.

4 hours later or so I login to find me in my old armor. I was pissed but I just assumed they reset the entire server to just before the trade. Unfortunetly my friend wasn't home anymore to confirm this.

Having out of date armor and no scrolls for my next level I hiked it all the way back to Jeuno. A went into my mog house and checked the delivery box. Low and behold there was all the crap I just traded my friend!

So I'm on hold for a GM now to see what they have ot say about it. It is only about 20k in gear that was duped so I dont mind them taking it back.

I'm still waiting on my friend to get back on tonight to find out if he got the stuff he traded me back.

I'll update you when I find more information. Has anyone else experienced this?

Just a quick update. I lost the items I had and the GMs didn't care so I'm taking it upon myself to recreate the money lost. If they ban me for using a bot overnight tough, I'll tell em I'm just making back what their mistake took from me.

The only way to be guaranteed that your items are saved is to log out, only then is your character saved to the database immediatelly and protected against rollbacks.

In EverQuest this was so common that whenever you got a nice item you relogged just in case server crashed, I lost 2 top end items to stuff like this. (Read, oh dang hot mama items.)
