So recently i updated my computer to 2.2 C2D e4500 8600 GTS and 2gig ddr2 800 ram. Well FFXI seems to have some issues. My FPS can't support high shadows and cannot support more then 11 people on the screen without shadows on at all. It's like this:
11people = 29 fps
12 people= 11fps
High shadows = 5fps
Bard songs still destroy my FPS and i've downloaded the newest nvidia drivers that were supposed to fix most issues regarding FFXI. I'm on windows XP 32bit. Anyone got some suggestions to throw atme about this? It's rather upsetting knowing my friend has same setup as me and can go anywhere with 29fps (even full man dynamis)

Your friend has the exact same box? Find the differences between your two systems and go from there.

Check google for your graphic's card model in comparison to FFXI. If you dig deep enough, you'll find out that odds are your current driver is incompatible with FFXI, meaning you'll need to roll back to or download an older driver that IS compatible with it. Odds are if your friend has the SAME thing as you, then his drivers are actually different, and you should consider getting his driver number.
