My problem is I need to run FFXI on a computer when the actual files are on another computer. I've done this with WoW, you map the drive so it's network drive, open it, navigate to WoW, and play. Well everytime I try this with FFXI (I go to pol.exe first of course), nothing happens. The mouse has the little time glass thing then goes away. Is there any type of work around for this, maybe to trick FFXI into doing this? I've tried copying the files but I get "Missing required content" when attempting to play ffxi (I can get through pol in this situation easy).
Thanks

You must install ffxi to the network drive from the computer you intend to play on. Pol can't find FFXI unless the installer has updated the path information on where to find it.

It's timing out because it's looking for registry information.
Run the installer on one PC and target the network share as the installation path. If you don't want it to reinstall, copy the old folder somewhere(rename it) and rename it back when you're done the installation. It'll 'check' all the files once and you'll be done.
