This guide was written from a combination of experience and help from a lot of differant crafters. It is by no means a "cheapest way to max out Goldmithing" guide. Some stages in Goldsmithing require some substantial investment. Now, without further ado-

GTs guide to Goldsmithing from 0-70

0-10 BRASS INGOTS 3x copper + 1x zinc + fire

Copper ores are relitively cheap at either the Goldsmiths Guild or the Blacksmiths guild. (from 8-18 each depending on day/supply) On certain days the Goldsmiths guild has Zinc ores in stock for around 250-290gil each. If you cannot buy zincs at the guild, you can kill worms in Zeruhn Mines or even try to compete with all of the miners for Mining points.

Even though competition is high in the Mines, you can come out with a lot of extra profit to pay for your crystals and pickaxes if you have the patience.

You will need advanced support until at least skill level 5. After skill level 5, you can use regular support. Make those ingots and save as many as you can for the next phase of Goldsmithing.

_____________________________________________________________

Break Time Buy a copper hairpin from the AH and go to the guild and turn it in to Reinberta to attain the rank of Recruit. Congratulations, now get back to work!
_____________________________________________________________

10-13 BRASS SHEETS 1x brass ingot + fire

You will need nearly all of those ingots you just made. If you mined up all of your zincs, you should have enough gil to buy all your crystals. If not, make some extra stacks of ingots and put them on the AH. You should make a good profit and they sell relitively fast.

13-18 SILVER INGOTS 4x silver beastcoins + fire

Make sure to get advanced support for these until 15.
Silver Beastcoins can be quite expensive. You can break even with these as long as you buy your silver beastcoins for less than 5k and your fire crystals for less than 3k a stack.

Don't sell individuals unless you plan on waiting overnight for the profits. Stacks sell pretty fast and even with a few breaks, you will come out even.

_____________________________________________________________

Break Time Buy a brass hairpin from the AH and go to the guild and turn it in to Reinberta to attain the rank of Initiate. Congratulations, now back to the grind!
_____________________________________________________________

18-20 SILVER INGOTS 4x silver ore + fire

This one you will start seeing a profit from. Buy your Silver Ores for no more than 420 each from the AH or, if you are patient enough, mine them up. This part is fast, but selling in stacks it will provide a good income for the next part of your journey.

20-27 SILVER ARROWHEADS 1x silver ingot, 1x copper ingot + wind

Make sure to use Advanced support until at least 23 or 24 to keep breaks at a minimum.

This part is going to definately be a loss. Sell your stacks of silver arrowheads to the San d'Orian AH (They go pretty good there) Buy your Copper Ingots or craft them from Guild copper if you have the time.

If you are a woodworker (at least 21) you can make a really good profit selling stacks of the quivered arrows at the Jeuno AH. (and skillup to 30 woodworking at the same time)

OK, now here is where crafting starts to really turn in a loss...

27-33 SPARK SPEAR 1x copper ingot, 1x brass spear + earth

At least at this stage you won't have to worry about the cost of crystals.

If you have your woodworking skill around 18ish you can gain that too by making the brass spears. ( 1x ash lumber, 1x brass ingot, 1x linen thread + wind ) They will cap out your woodworking skill at 22. Otherwise buy your spears and ingots and get to work. Make sure to get advanced support until 30. Sell the spears to the AH (very slow) or to an NPC for a loss.

_____________________________________________________________

Break Time When you hit 28 make a silver hairpin (1x silver ingot + wind) and go to the guild and turn it in to Reinberta to attain the rank of Novice. Congratulations, now you can start amassing Guild Points!!
_____________________________________________________________

Now we return to ingots for the next 7 levels.

33-38 MYTHRIL INGOTS (part 1) 4x mythril beastcoins + fire

Get advanced support until 35.
Mythril Beastcoins can be expensive at the Bastok AH, so buy them at the Jeuno AH. Other than that this stage is almost exactly like the silver ingot stage.
Mythril Ingots sell much faster in Jeuno as well.

_____________________________________________________________

Break Time At level 38 buy a chain gorget off the AH and turn it in to Reinberta to attain the rank of Apprentice. Congratulations! :D
_____________________________________________________________

38-40 MYTHRIL INGOTS (part 2) 4x mythril ore + fire

This is another stage where you either make a ton of profit or just barely break even. If you have the patience (and suicidal tendancies) you can mine in Ifrit's Cauldron for Mythril ore (more common there), or buy them off the AH and pray they have enough.

40-48 SILVER BANGLES 3x silver ingot + fire

Get advanced support until 45 to keep brakes at a minimum. This is a frusterating stage. Be prepared to dump a lot of cash into this. When your inventory gets full, desynth the bangles into ingots.

_____________________________________________________________

Break Time At lvl 48, make a Mythril Ring (2x mythril ingot + fire) and trade it to Reinberta to attain the rank of Journeyman. Congratulations, you are almost halfway to mastering the craft! 8)
_____________________________________________________________

48-52 JEWELED MYTHRIL RINGS 1x level 2 gem + mythril ring + earth

You can try to desyth these at lvl 52 (with advanced support) for some skillups. Otherwise place them on the AH and leave them on your mule overnight in a bazaar.

52-58 MYTHRIL CUISSES 2x mythril sheet 1x ram leather + fire

Oy... This is a purely wasteful stage. Craft next to the Blacksmith Guild and sell as many as you can there. When they stop taking them, dump the rest on a poor unsuspecting Armor vendor.

_____________________________________________________________

Break Time Buy a Mythril Gorget and trade it to Reinberta to attain the rank of Craftsman. Congratulations, by now you should have some of the l33t Goldsmithing gear. :o
_____________________________________________________________

58-64 PLATINUM INGOT 6x platinum nuggets + 1x platinum ore + fire

If you like, grow the nuggets yourself if you can not afford them. Otherwise, you can mine platinum ore in Palborugh Mines or Ifrit's Cauldron, or buy the rest from the auction house. Save at least half for the next stage...

64-70 PLATINUM RING 2x platinum ingot + fire

Once again, another wasteful stage. I hope you saved some ingots because this is going to be a bumpy ride.

_____________________________________________________________

Break Time At lvl 68, buy/make a Mythril Breastplate (2x mythril ingot + fire) and trade it to Reinberta to attain the rank of Artisan. Congratulations, this is the end of my guide!
_____________________________________________________________

I hope you enjoyed my guilde. Hopefully it helped a few people.
I'll update this as I get higher and have time.
:P

It's not quite the most expensive route (which is very fast) or the cheapest route (slow gains).

This method is a bridge between the two. At several intervals you can make money for the more expensive stages. (Mostly ingots) If you had about 500k you could just powerskill through most of it and make it back with the more expensive ingots later.

I'm on Gilgamesh and just got Goldsmithing 52 and my Shaded Spectacles last night. I've been synthing Gold Ingots from Beastcoins and now from Ore. I'm losing about 10k/ingot and skilling up slowly because I only synth on Iceday with Advanced Support. I've been making up the difference as best I can with Silver Ingots which are selling for 33-35k/stack!! I have to add the the question about when do I see a profit in this craft. So far the only thing I can consistently make money on is those silver ingots when the guild price for ore is low. Another crafter at my level is turning all his gold ingots into earrings; a loss of about 35k/earring. I don't want to go that route. Aaarrrggghh! :-)

Every step of this guide is correct and very useful, i just found it and im lvl 54.8 on Garuda. Ive got alot invested. Its helpful knowing about the mythril cuisses, ive been skilling on gold earrings at breaking even, but they sell really slow. (caps at 57) decent skillups on em tho. Its actually profitable by a small amount making Platinum ingots on Garuda server. about 2k per ingot. not bad for skillin up :) thanks for guide ^^

There are ways to make money at every step and not just by mining, until you get really high that is. Guarding and a mule with high lvl alchemy(LS with access to the nm that drops the phil stone, and plat leaves comes to mind.) And other ways I can't think of at the moment, nor do I care to until I get back my character that has GS skill to 40+, but that doesn't come till the middle of June :(

a cheaper route to start this craft might be to do what i did~>
take ajob and lvl in sandy in ghelsba to farm your fire crystals
~ this won't take long at all by lvl 8 i had 3.5 stacks of fire and 2 stacks of wind
buy copper ore from guild for 9 gil each
~0-4 make copper ingots <fire crystal ~ 4 copper ore>
you can profit a little by selling these in ah by the stack. (at least you can on asura)

LMFAO!!!! OMG! at level 70, 10 Mil will get you 2 levels if you are lucky. the cost to max GS to 100 will cost over 150-200 Million, unless you farm your onw materials which would take several years of non-stop play to accumulate everything you need. Anyone that says otherwise is ignorant.

Ok guys,
This is How I been lvling goldsmithing...

I have 10 mules + my main. Its less than 25.00 per month an so worth it. long ago I used the Mules to grow Ice ores as my main sorce of gil. I lvl up goldsmithing an was about to give it up because of the cost, then I seen the Recipe for Platinum Ingots. I needed Lots of platinum nuggets. So I switched over to growing the Platinum Nuggets to skill up with. Synthing them into platinum ingots. I useally harvest about 575-620 platinum nuggets (give or take a few), giving me 9 stacks of platinum Ingots. Of coarse It cost me a little less than 2 Million to buy the 110 Tree cuttings + 220 Light crystals = Platinum Nuggets an lots of Platinum Ores (I mine some while I wait the 12 days so I have no set price), and the fire crystals to synth the platinum Nuggets into Platinum Ingots I now do that as my main sorce of Gil, selling the Platinum Ingots every 12 days for about 7 Million profit. All this timeI didn't make any Gil at all Goldsmithing, til I seen the platinum Ingot recipe an had the available Mules to use. I just lvl up from 68 to 70 useing the 7 stacks of platinum Ingots, synthing them into Platinum Rings. 7 Stacks wasen't enough, so I bought 4 stacks of Gold Ingots. Synth them into 2 moon rings, an used the rest to synth Torques. This is crazy gil. I mostly sell the platinum Ingots for 1 million per stack on the Valefor Server and the current price of the Gold Ingots are 700K. Thats a little more than 10 Million.. Good thing I grew the Platinum otherwise this would be out of the question as far spending the 10 Million Gil to get 2 lvl's. Now to lvl up I need massive amounts of Gold Ingots.

This is the Goldsmithing Guide I been following....

Hi,

I would like to start goldsmithing. I have searched on google about this but i couldnt find any site that tells how to start it. How you lvl it. How and when you need to visit the guilds. All the sites explains about recepies , cheap and expensive methods but not a starting point.

Any help i would appriciate.

Thank you,
