Hello, here's my story.... : FFXI General Discussions

Last year around Aug, I visited Xunleash for the very first time.

Right away, I was facinated about Mr.Argus, so I then proceed in downloading it from this thread.

unfortunately, I downloaded this file and used it before the admins were able to warn me, about an hour later, my account password was changed.

I was embarrassed about this. I'm somewhat well known on the server so it was very very embarrassing to tell people that my account was stolen from XU. I did not know what I should do next.

Yes, I felt really stupid, I cannot believe I didn't scan for virus before proceeding to use a file like this. I guess I was too overwhelmed by the capabilities of Mr.argus and I really rushed things. All I can say was I screwed up big time. Yes, I feel really stupid and dumb.

So right away, about 5 minutes later, I called my friend and asked him to call a GM for me, the GM told me that I'll have to call POL to resolve this issue. This was around 9pm at night. Friday.

Great, that means I'll have to wait till monday first thing before anyone can actually help me. I knew my money would be gone by then, however, I was not concerned about the 100+ million that I had in my account, I was more concerned about my account being forever gone. To tell you the truth, it was my ultimate goal in game to achive my Cursed bd. Abj., not to mention I had full set of cursed gear. Most of them were +1s.

Monday morning, I got on the phone with POL. They inform me that no matter what happens, if you don't have the credit card info, they will not reset the password. I have my Original box, CDKey, receipt, everything in hand. And they would not give my account back. They then said to me: "How do I know you didn't sell this account?" Well, what can I say, the story I told them was that I was at a netcafe, and I was probably hacked by a key logger. So what POL suggested me to do was to contact local law enforcement, and not to go to a netcafe. What a joke.

2nd day, I could not rest because the lost was just too devastating, so I called them up again and this time I asked to speak with a manger. He was very nice and helpful, he even asked me what my POL Email password was, I gave it to him and he said it was correct. He then said:" hey, this looks good. Looks like you're the original owner after all." However we need a few more days to investigate before we can reset the password for you. I said ok.

A week later, I had no feedback. I called them up again and I asked for the same supervisor that helped me. This time, he sounded really annoyed, like I was interrupting his lunch break or something. (Which was around noon-time.) He then proceed and told me: "I never said I would give your account back, I just said I'd look into it for you. Like he completetly forgotten our conversation a week ago. I then got really really angry. (wouldn't you if you were me?) And I realize, from this point on, no staff at POL will ever help me again after I told them off on the phone.

It is now 8 months since the incident, I still can't get over the fact that I lost something that precious to me. I have another character now and I'm playing that at leisure but, it's just not the same again. Like I said, I was somewhat well known on the server, I have alot of friends that can back me up. atleast 100+ people can vouch for me.

I called them up around Janurary of this year. (5 months since the incident) They said: " someone called in and closed the account in sept, was that you?" I said no... it was probably the hacker. I said since it's closed, can I have it back now? They said sorry, if you don't have the credit card info, we cannot do anything. At this point, I was too tired to argue about it again. I know they'll probably give me the same treatment.

Yesterday, I was cleaning up my computer, I found old screenshots of my character, I was scrolling thru them, it actually brought tears to my eyes. So I decided to post my story.

I could probably call POL again now, but I know what they'll say to me, so why bother.....

So, bitchslap1, if you do happen to read this, would you be so kindly to leave me a PM or email me, I know you got my goods, I know you sold it all already. I don't care. I just want my character back. Since you have closed it already, you probably weren't able to sell it? It been more then half a year since this happened, if you can find it in your heart to send me the password to this account... Surely, since I knew the admins were pretty fast on warning people about your trojan, so I know I was probably the only unlucky person who caught your virus.

Please, if you can find it in your heart to return something I worked really, really, really hard on. Getting thru those times were really hard for me as I lost my job and my relationship over it. I don't even want to get into that..... I'm ashamed.

You guys can laugh at me, I probably deserve it. I just don't know what else to do anymore.

Ouch. I would keep on calling them each day and telling them whats up. Eventually i bet they would give in.

google the word g00ns, im sure for the right amount of money and your cooperation theyll happily !@#$%^&* up his life ^^ moneyi nvolved ofcourse, and trust me these guys are real -_- real hackers, vie seen what they can do because of a hackwar between curse and mpgh and its almost scary lol

sorry to hear that. !@#$%^&* happens man, at least the guy didn't get access to your credit card and use it for something worse.

Well the admins here have his IP.. and you have evidence of his giving you malware in order to steal your accounts password and ultimately pose as you, stealing your account.

You could probably (if you wanted to) press charges and get him for Identify Theft and most likely stealing...

You wont get much of a case for that one it will cost you more money than its worth. As well yes you can tell them that some guy sent you a link for a guide for something in the game. Then it turned out to be a virus.

But tracing the guys IP, informing his ISP that he has been performing illegal activities under their IP address will give him a headache.

You can also probably weasle his phone number from the ISP if you have your "lawyer" call them. Then you call him up, and make some bizarre legal threats if the account is not returned and restituions are paid. Don't know about you, but if I stole someone's account and got a phone call threatening me with 20 years in prison for identity theft I'd return it.

I used to admin Jedi Knight II servers a LONG time ago, and there was a hack going around that crashed entire server blocks. We would write down their IPs then trace their IP address.

After we did this, we'd call the ISP and tell them of the federal laws they were violating and the "damage" they caused by crashing our server blocks. We then threatened THEM with legal action unless they did something about the subject. Funny enough, we got around 15 internet accounts closed, and even managed to have the ISP threaten one person with legal action...

I know the admins here have that person's IP, but it's probably too late to do anything right now since it's been couple month's already. Infact bitchslap1 could be another person reading this right now as we speak. All I can say is, I'll try out the law enforcement method, hoping for some justice.

I'm currently a happlily paid subscriber on XU on another account, so I'm still enjoying the game and all, but if there's anyway at all to have a chance of getting my old account back, believe me I would do it.

Now the admin here suggested I should tell them about my case, well, the thing is I've mentioned previously in my first post I told them I went to a cybercafe and probably got my account stolen from a keylogger, so I don't know how changing my story would look now. I wish I can tell them the truth, but I can't because they'll ask me where did you get your virus from, I can't say XU... if I do they'll laugh at me even harder, because they really hate FFXi Tools and Account sellers.

I would like to give them a call, but I don't know what to say. I don't want to make my record any worst then it is. It's probably got massive comments about how suspisious my account is etc etc....

sigh ... I'm lost.

I lost my account over a month ago. It was just a cheat account too.

My story is that I had 3 seprate accounts. 1 for me, 1 for my baby brother, and 1 for cheating.

All under one credit card but played on different ISP.

My cheat account got banned for dumb reasons like /shouting non-stop and for saying i'm a [GM] in my user profile. Of which both I didn't use third party programs. I was accused of using Third Party Programs. My cheat account was banned and 1 day later all three were shutdown permanently. I tried calling once but it's been a month and I'm waiting for their mail that they promised me.

I'm going to call again tommrow to at least get my brothers account back. I've played (total game time: 40days.) throughout 3 years of my life, never paid much attention to FFXI but it was there when I was bored. But yeah it is heart breaking to read your story and makes me furious at POL customer service.

I want to try to get my brothers account back becasue it's certain that he has never cheated and has a character he worked on for a long to get goldsmithing to 95. He never once cheated yet he too banned. It's an unfair world, [GM]'s are ghey fcukers who think they have some authority becasue they can ban kids who do nothing and some unlucky cheaters. I hate [GM]'s if I ever knew one I'd fcuking kill that btich. I'm not even joking.

Syztem, that person has already abandoned the account. That means even if goons were able to get him, what good will it do. Ultimately, the goal is to retrieve the account back.

That happened to my friend trying to get it back for him still.

o if um the dude who did it is reading this...and wants to give the account bak or something of that nature...i was only kinda joking in a way that wen u giv the account bak ill still hate u =)
