I think this poor guy is thinking of being able to play FFXI like you usto be able to play Phantasy Star Online on the DreamCast. That game you could play either online or in Single User Mode.

For Your Information taiwanesepie: There is no way to play this game in SingleUserMode. However you can as other users have suggested solo in this game. In fact it is not even suggested that you start partying with other players untill you have mastered your character at or arround lvl 10 (depending on your job).

If you are looking for a way to play the game in a SingleUserMode there are options though you will still have to spend some time playing in parties till you get atleast one job up to lvl 30. Once you attain lvl 30 you can proceed to persue Advanced jobs. The job that is easiest for soloing is the BeastMaster job. This allows you to Charm mobs that are usually even matches to the mobs you would like to kill. Infact most beastmasters solo untill lvl 30 or so because its so easy.

Be sure to consult the Creatures of Vana'diel chart. This will allow you the best advantage over your mobs by choosing the mob you would like to charm that is most likely to do the most dmg to the creature you would like to kill. Just follow the Arrows its quite easy to understand.
