It's been 3-4 years?

Don't flame with "oh, then stop posting on here" , "why are you still reading this forum?", and other childish remarks.

Don't you think FFXI is dead? 3 or 4 years and not much has changed. It was good while it lasted but even an expansion set will not save it. It is dead as a doorknob. Three new jobs are 3 years? Poor customer service getting worse as time passes by. Ridiculous amounts of updates for the most unuseful thing?

This forum, I'm guessing 25% of the topics is new which consists of 75% question/not-new ideas. So we're working with about 7% new information every now and then. Other than that we've got posts from 2004,2005, and older being bumped up. There isn't enough new topics that people are reading old posts that they've probably read a year ago. Or a response to soemthing that's been updated and patched and gone forever.

This game isn't exciting any more, I think it's time for people to move on. Everything in the game is deprciating, and nothing is useful item-wise. I enjoy meeting friends once in a while and just messing around with the game coding and hacks. Other than that there is nothing really to want you to devote your time and work hard because in the end it's nothing useful, it's a big waste of time. I mean if your paying 12-15US a month to play you'd want to do something you like or worth while at least. I mean when I was 17-18 It was real fun. I mean missing out on class to play this game to meet with friends. The game is supposed to be about friends and stuff but it's really become an elitest game (Diablo 2 anyone?) I see the same path for this game.

Sure - it's enjoyed its ups and its downs but I think FFXI will end up with a either a handful of super elite players that ruin the game for everyone new to it. Or everyone has access to cheats and hacks and everyone shares the wealth while FFXI employees set their desks and files ablaze trying to destroy all evidence of malicious and illegal actions taken by SE.

If we ever see a decrease in Updates or even a skipped update, you have to say it's the end.

GM's long ago were nice, friendly, and merciful. GM's now are homosexual, queer, and quite the flamers who go on Power Freakouts like my old RA who illegally open everyone fridge while on a Beer Raid. But I guess you can say Justice will prevail - GM's will have to go to anger managment, therapy, or customer service classes... maybe even fired? Like my RA.

Yeah sure it's fun to play every job to level 75. You can explore new things and a whole bunch of stuff. But don't you play with other people who are leveling that job? If your a ninja all your life why play a White Mage? You've see what they can do so why do you want to waste your time to see what you already have? Is it some kind of psychological closure you get from being able to do it yourself? Anyways enough about that.

I also see why you can keep playing - you can goldsmith! Or craft or whatever but what good is that when gilsellers are fired and things are just not worth what they were? Even the newbie who never bought gil can reach Goldsmithing to 100 in a reasonable time, its even Possible for them, thats the main point. Goldsmithing 100 was only held by the few, the elite, the lifeless nerds but no longer can they be proud of their distinction because many others can do it. - So why craft? You want to spend a lot of gil to make a little more? You waste 1-2 weeks power leveling your craft? Boring - you can work out and whip yourself into shape in 2 weeks, learn to diet, maybe research on your business opportunities, go to school, maybe meet friends?

You see, either things massively depriciate or things go into super high over pricing. We saw the over pricing now its the depriciation. Maybe gil is worthless - maybe we'll need SOJ's to trade. haha

You know when the game is boring when you start to cheat. Sure at first it's fun to massively cheat and not get a way with it. What's the point you've exploited the game. There's no more use for it. It's like a girlfriend you liked at first, messed around with, got a hold of her and you can use her like a towel... but she's just not the same girl to you in your heart anymore. What's the point of keeping her around? A few good kicks here and there? No, it's wasting your time.

I'm sure all of you who ever come to read this have at least once thought about quitting this game because of whatever reason it may have.

I'm just really bored of FFXI.

My timeline of FFXI

2002 or 2003 - FFXI released in NA
Oct 2002 or 2003 - Jan 2003 or 2004 - Never had a better time play FFXI
Jan - June - Tired of Fantasy Life, real life real girls real people yada yada
June - July - Summer Vacation a little come back to FFXI
July - Dec 2005 - FFXI was dead
Dec 2005 - Feb 2006 - Return to cheat, raised goldsmithing to 100, made over 200 million gil that was spread throughout linkshell.
Feb 2006 - Banned
March 2006 - Returned with new account
April 2006 - Quit for good.

Anyways, I hope TaultUnleashed keeps getting new cheats new stories new ideas because it's vital to a forum in order for it to survive.

Its been dying since it was made.

So, its not dying nor is it dead if that makes sense. They put crack in pol.exe so that you keep coming back. If its taken this long for you to finally decide you're gunna quit, well, I think FFXi has just proved that its not dead.

Your revised timeline:

April 2006 - Came back. You can't live without your crack.

Lol, Y are you still here then(couldn't resist)? Sure stuff gets boring that's why you move on to something new. I purposely don't read the boards on alla, vault, and the like so I don't see negative attitudes.

This game has the best updates out of all the ones I've played, several MMOs and MUDs. And it has the most content of any game out there bar NONE, including any mmo, mud, or single player game.

welll it's definitely not dead and i understand that it's still a big thing in Japan... IDK though because the PS2 capabilities are holding back what technology can do at this moment... You know like the graphics and stuff are all old school.

I don't mean to shun the PS2 users but we all know that they are holding the PC and xbox users back because SE idk where i read it they said they couldn't use the xbox360 to its full potential because the coding ha to be compatible with the PS2 or something like that.

So maybe if they stopped supporting the PS2 then they could make some very nice things in FFXI like... make it so that the >>> enemy's health bar goes down at the same time you actually hit it  <<<

the ToA unlike CoP looks really promising. Im expecting 2-3 more years of exciting game play from this expansion.

Magik I was like you. I quit playing FFXI back during the summer of 2004 and I didn't come back until the end of Jan of this year. So, pretty much that was a 1.5 year hiatus. The reason why I came back into playing FFXI again after being away so long was how sophisticated the game was (I've played EQ, WoW and D&D). They don't compare to FFXI. Granted by the time I got back into the game, I didn't realize how inflated the economy was and how there were so much gilsellers (350k for astral ring when I left, 2 mil now). Sure at times I felt that I wanted to quit, but I was having fun also.

Also, the generalization about FFXI players is all wrong. I went to the fan festival and of course there are going to be a bunch of diverse people, but not the type that you described well maybe a few exceptions. Also, I was shocked how cute some of the female players were. For example, I'm sure you saw the chick sporting the Dragoon costume on some on the FFXI sites. She was real cute. I have a picture with her on our ls site. Also, my ls members were quite shocked how I looked like. I got plenty of comments on how I look like them guys from Abercombie ads. I get teased alot by my rl friends that are in my ls for sporting Aviator sunglasses because it makes me look like Johnny Knoxville. If you don't believe me, I can give you a link to our ls pics. Then again, why would a man want to check out another man.

Anyways, my point is you can play the game and do all the things socially i.e. going to bars, clubs, house parties etc etc. I was like you I play the game so excessively that I just burned myself out. Just play the game casually like maybe 2-3 hours a day and go out on weekends. That's what I do. In any scenario, of course you gonna have people who are totally engrossed in the game or just laybacked about it like you and me. I mean you can still play the game and still go out and make out with drunk chicks.

It all depends on the person i think, because some people will just keep comming back just like they need their crack and some people with quit for good.. If you really dont enjoy the game though you should just quit because why would you do something that isnt fun if you dont have too. So there really isnt a point in these kind of threads other than to show that ffxi is addicting or w/e and people just cant quit.

In my opinion all MMOs arnt that great, and for ffxi, things seem to get old fast. I dont think it will last to much longer. Most of the people in knew since release has deleated there accounts.

Yeah they do get boring sometimes but they can also be really fun a lot of the time too. The only thing i hate about ffxi is waiting hours for a pt everything else is pretty cool most of the time.

Yeah the game is already ruined man. Even if you don't see it between you and your friends. The important things are monopolized. Without the important things people would not play, with them people monopolize them.

Oh yeah lilfisher, joining the army is more fun you get to actually do the stuff people in MMORPG's do in real life. Just that it anit not game. cant act all tough in an mmorpg without being tough in real life
