Is it just me or is carbuncal ruby, ultra ultra rare? : FFXI General Discussions

I'm not actually trying to get the ruby be I've kill hundreds and hundreds of leaches just farming other stuff and have never gotten a drop on the ruby, and that's with TH2.

its random. ive gone with/without TH and gotten it 1/1 in a run and ive gootten it in 250+ kills

I've found that the leeches around the pond where Simurgh spawns have a decent drop rate on these.

First to build TP and then out of sheer boredom we tend to kill everything there as it spawns, and every camp we get at least 2 of those.

I always goto Bubimiru(or w/e) whether I'm doing it for a friend, or for my self and I've always gotten in less then 45minutes(Had about 6 odd runs for the Ruby it self) The part I would be complaining about it getting the colors, those are truely a pain in the !@#$%^&*... withOUT POS

where did you farm them?

Buburimu Penisula at the Beach, closest to the Bibiki Bay zone. A lot of leeches roaming around there. Round them up and AoE their asses.

I agree I always go there to help LS farm them. Best drop rate here IMO. Tho i could just be chance... it still works for me.

Mainly in Pashow Mikan, but I've killed them every where.

Killing in pashlow is a good choice... farming beastman blood at the same time XD. Btw, i got my ruby from the NM located at top left of the map ^^;.

Carby ruby is suppose to be ultra rare. I'd take internal's suggestion and go to bubirimu. Also, having more than 1 thf can help too, even if it's just th1

I farmed this several times for myself and some other friends, took me about 140 something kills with TH to get mine and when i helped a friend got it on second kill without TH. So it seems its pretty random, maybe it has something to with the time you kill one or how you kill it.

I got my ruby a long time ago from the leeches around leech king spawn. We killed what felt like hundreds of them. Probably was over 200 because re wiped the entire room clean at least 15-20 times with about 10 people from my LS. TH ... don't remember if we had or not. sorry been too long.

Times may have changed since i got mine but if I need to get people the ruby now, I kill leeches in Qufim Island. Achrophies or however they are spelled. I've helped friends get these a lot of times here and the most we have ever had to kill was like 20.

I personally think that higher levels of leeches have a better chance of dropping this ruby. I'm not saying you have to kill bloodballs or some lvl 70+ leech but I have seen them drop here as well while training npc's. Achrophies are around 30-40 and poison leeches are around 20 (which most people kill on my server for this quest). [guessing at leech lvls lol]

well iv only gotten the ruby twice once when i was still a noob and the other was wen i actually wanted the ruby.
the first time i was in qufim with some lvl 30s n a 75whm n i was lvl 18...funny enough but they asked me to come cuz i was a thf. i died a lot but it took like 5kills to get it after i came. though i tried this at lvl 33THF to get my ruby n it was a complete waste of time.
the 2nd time i got it was at burbimu (blah blah) peninsula took about an hour with 3 other ppl.
personally id say BP is ur best bet.
kill poison leaches. they are about the same lvl as the leaches in Valkurm.

I got mine on Quim. Island by accident actually I only killed about 10-15 leeches.

very rare ive gotten it with 2x TH1 in qufim but took like 4 hours but then in maze of shakrami it was like 30 minutes we just had to clear the leech room twice and that was w/o any TH
