JP Fafnir/Nidhogg pull Video., 3 Video : FFXI General Discussions

I found 3 videos from other HNM ls website. These 3 video shows JP claim fafnir/nidhogg "EXTREAMLY FAST".

JP provoke from behind.
Claimed before it even pop.

Play the video slowly and play and pause it while you watch it.

Before I didn't really believe in packet sniffer until now. But after watching the 3 videos about, Im starting to believe it.

Doesn't seem like SE is doing anything to it.

Open Question) How do you plan to deal with players who use packet sniffing?

If a player is using some type of packet sniffing tool they're still required to be present at the location to be able to do that like any other player, so at the moment we have no plans on pursuing to nullify this behaviour.

That is about the speed I have seen everyone pull with fast connection in Ifrit.

I can do it but i have to spam charm. I have to admit it was very fast.
I never see the mob I <t> until after I have cast charm if I am spamming.
I dont think is fair that they have a program that does it automatically. I have seen PC do this before though. I have seen myself do it too.

Their was allot of PC their. That guy and all the other i am assuming japanese players where not affected by any lag of any kind. So I have to say that was a very very fast pull.

ok flame me if u want but I don't believe that JP are using packet sniffers...its just the nature of the internet. NA players have to make more hops to the server in Japan while JP players have to make less hops. Less hops mean they can send and recive data a little faster than us. Don't believe me? Next time u get a jp pt and you are about to zone, try to zone half a second before they do. 9 time out of 10 when the new zone loads up, their char will be ahead of you. I have noted this many times and do I think its fair? not really. So when you see NM's claimed purple that means this...
NM pops on JP's screen and once it pops it is claimed...by the time its claimed it pops up on your screen. Ive also seen a RDM pull Mysticmaker Profblix with Gravity... and then the NM popped claimed.
Can NA players beat JP on claims? Yes it does happen. Lag or a possible longer hop to the server could even the battlefield out. Until I see proof...a program or a vid of someone using a packet sniffer currently, i refuse to believe in it.

On my server people complain about voke botting all the time but even in europe, aka even further from japan than the usa, I still always see the mob as yellow before they get claimed. (all ffxi communication goes from japan to usa then to europe)

I have about 240-270ms ping to my server on my 10mbit connection.
I have a p4 2.8ghz with 2gb ram and when doing HNM I have everything set to minimum plus HNM model files placed on a ram drive and linked to the ffxi folder via hard links. (win2k/xp feature)

The main reason you never see them yellow is because your computer is too slow. I believe this is the reason why ps2 players are almost always faster vokers than pc players.

To then create an automated macro for voke is a benefit but it's not all that much larger if you already know the ToD.


Note, at the end of the day japanese players DO have a 200ish ms ping advantage over european players. I don't know how large it is for american players but it's bound to be smaller. Aka, if they're 200ms faster than you then you're !@#$%^&*. ;)

Still, the current system sucks !@#$%^&*, I hate HNM but LS does them so wind up at them anyway. Getting drops should be based on the skill of your alliance / party. Not the skill / speed of a single voker.

I have to say what he is saying is true. My computer is in high settings and it a little slower. I can <t> a mob about 1 sec before i can see it. Just because you can see it doesnt mean its not their.


Ex. In Jeuno allot of times when i come out of zone i can <t> a pc and it will be a point on the floor. The pc character eventually appears after a while. That has nothing to do with the connection. It's all about how fast your computer can load.

Last comment if you are waiting on your pc. To actaully see the NM or whatever <t>. I gurantee that you will not get the <t> if someone else is hunting using a spam or a macro which most people do. Most of the times once u see the mob pop it is too late or you have very little time before someone else gets it. Then again you might be the only one their.

This is all I've seen since I've joined. It's either people putting down and cussing out people actually trying be helpful, or people who say they can do it but refuse to give any info. What is the point? Lets not forget two months ago you were just as clueless as us.

I mean come on, you think you're gonna say something here and then every person in the world is gonna do it? I'd probally say compared to the entire ffxi population people at this forum would make up <5%. And hell I'd rather everything get out, so maybe Square would do something about bots, and packet sniffers, maybe even then I could pay less than 2 million gil for the pleasure of not having to fight chinese gil sellers to every spawn only to have it appear claimed.

I can pretty much say that it really doesn't have much to do with your computer. In very populated areas like jeuno it will take a while for someone to pop up, but when the whole zone has 5 people in it, this won't happen.

I have a 2.4ghz machine with 768 Meg of memory and a geforce 4 Ti 128 MB graphics card on a 4 Megabit connection. 9/10 Stroper Chyme appears claimed, I have used a tabbing voke bot and still can not beat the campers to the pull.

That's BS look at the party chat, he's counting down and if you watch 5 seconds after he said 5 the damn thing popped. There's no way unless he was the GM popping the damn thing or something. Definitly a packet sniffer. On the 3rd video that is.

That true i Didnt notice that How the hell did he know when the HNM was going to pop. The same with all the others their.

Arent HNM suppose to be random. For something Random allot of the people new when and where it was going to pop.

Regarding the countdown.

Some of the NM's spawn after a set time after it was last killed,
so you can calculate when it will spawn if you logged when it was killed.
(uncornfirmed, but some claim that the info when the mob was killed is sent to the clients so no need to log.)

The most popular tool that the JP use seems to be this:

Clock, Present locatin on map, Timer after defined log filters, Range (highlights abilities etc, when within range).

Chatwindows: Linkshell, Abilities, Utsusemi.

Now, if I could get hold of these to try it out... hard to search for when you don't know the right keywords.

Hmm, I'll try create something like those chat windows for us.
If someone finds utsusemi data and stuff I can add that too, or well... just add the stuff based on the log.
