Legit way to MPK on Fafnir, sort of : FFXI General Discussions

So the other day we had about 150 people in Dragon Aery, not too high as it was only about 30% chance Nid.

We got claim and did the business to start. 2 unfortunate things happened, one was that about 5 out of 17 of our shell was afk. 2 was that about 130 people all ran ontop of Faf's feet. Our tanks could not find or target Fafnir (one of them plays on PS2, and I think we know how well the PS2 works, it doesn't). This resulted in them not being able to keep hate since they can't target or find him.

I happened to be on WHM at the time, and could not even /target the person by typing their names. I could not heal people properly there were so many people there.

I took a screenshot of just 1 foot, the other foot was just as bad I just didn't take a screenshot. I've been camping and killing this thing for years, I've never witnessed so many people actually stand on Faf's feet when not killing it before. Usually as a common courtousy. Anyway.

All of this resulted in our tanks dying, which then resulted on us just letting another group try and escaped out rather than wipe. Some of this was because we had people being afk, but a lot of it had to do with people not being able to actually do their jobs, which was not their fault.

One of our PLD called a GM, which I personally believe is retarded, it's not like they're going to yell at 150 players for doin what they did, you just have to live with it. But this does seem like a legitimate way to MPK a group when numbers are high. Gather everyone you can and stand where they should be for killing Faf so they can't target Faf or other members in their alliance.

You'll notice I can't even see Fafnir in my own screenshot as well, but we were fighting him at the time and had claim on it when I took the shot. Again this is only 1 foot, the other foot was much worse and I moved to this one in hopes I would be able to target people.
