Strength and Accuracy is best. You already get high HP since you are a monk and with war sub you will pick up some strength. Don't worry about Defense gear as you shouldn't be tanking but at times will do to the amount of damage you are going to do. Mid-lvl monks (35-50) usually have tons of accuracy gear on but you can bypass that and go all strength by using Sole Sushi which adds a crazy amount of accuracy (+23%, i think). Always get the best weapon you can afford.

So in summary, focus on strength rings and equipment and use an accuracy boosting food like sole sushi and you should notice a significant amount of hate coming your way from the mobs!

Good Luck and Happy Hunting

I would say focus on defense at the low levels since you will primarily be tanking in those parties. At higher levels you will want the same str/acc gear that your monk uses and avoid tanking if you can help it post 40.

Most low level valkrum parties are horrible. Instead, if possible go to tahrongi and maze of shakharim and stay there to level 15. There's a surprising lack of idiots in that region.

asl18fs is right in saying that you would be better off in tahrongi or the maze but if you want to stay in the dunes you need to do the lizards near the Konschtat zone until 12-13, then gobs, then move to fly's and crabs at 14-15. There are some very good defense/vitality foods:

boiled crayfish (semi-cheap) - Def +30% - Duration 30min
shallops tropicale (expensive) - Vit +4 Def +25% - Duration 3hrs?

I would probably stick with the boiled crayfish for now, most of your parties at that level won't stick together for 3hrs anyways. You can check out foods at:

At higher levels food like sole sushia and curries are expected, but you'd be retarded to eat them in a valk pt. You'll be fine with something like grilled hare (your pts will be impressed that you're eating anything at all, trust me). Move on to mithkabobs in qufim and the jungles.

Your priorities depend on your personality, but mine are ACC > STR > ATT > DEX.

Notes:
- raising ATT at lower levels makes a much bigger difference at lower levels than it does at higher levels (hence the diminishing returns on ochiudo's kote).
- There are very few ACC+ items at low levels, so try to snatch whatever you can.
- 2DEX = 1ACC (in addition to other things, like raising your crit rate)
- STR will directly and strongly impact the amount of damage you do on weaponskills, but MNK have so many multihit weaponskills that accuracy often increases it even more. Combo/Raging Fists/Asuran doesn't do any damage at all if you're only hitting 1/3 attacks. STR becomes more relevent on weaponskills like dragon kick and backhand blow (although there's nothing more embarassing than missing a backhand blow *^.^*)

Long Story Short?
Don't gimp yourself too much, but you can wear pretty much anything. Especially until 25-30, when 90% of everyone else is supergimp too. Stick with the gi series, whatever. Make sure your H2H weapon is up to date, though! Damage is almost ALWAYS more important than delay. Your damage will suck to crabs unless your str is pimped, don't worry too much about this. If you have any more questions or want more specific advice, feel free to reply.

Hm... my 2 gils.

It`s all about the race.
If Your a Elvaan Monk You have great strength so get some ACC/DEX gear.
Sole Suchi cost abou 40-50k a stack on my server so i don`t recomend it.
ACC gear for low-lvls aren`t so cheap also. But You need it.
So get some ACC/DEX gear and go party. You can try to eat kabobs and see if You miss a lot or not. If You don`t miss keep eating kabobs, other way get some sushi, tuna shushi is good.

As for Galka Monks STR>>ACC.
Get some +STR gear and eat sushi or kabobs.

Other Monks should eat +str food and have +str gear on themselvs.

And make sure you fight the goblins in the FIRST AREA (by Kons. Highlands) and not the ones that appear after the cave.

Lizards > Goblins > Crabs/Skeletons* > Flies/Pugs - lvl 20

Don't attack the leeches!

Also, if you feel daring, head to the top left corner of the map and keep going through the cave (be careful of the bats!! Very strong) and you will come to a hidden beach (secret area, bard quest place) and there is usually no one there so all the crabs + pugs + flies + skeletons you want. Watch for Bogy's and Goblins, the area is not that big.
