i wouldnt taru for a rdm, because rdms use sword and tarus auck with swords. I would do a hume for rdm, maybe even a mithra.

As far has hunting around Windy I'm going to suggest something abit different (or maybe not). East/west sarutabaruta you'll get wind/earth and fire crystals mostly. Save you wind for yagudo necklaces and break them down into grass thread, use some of the wind and all of your earth in the clothcraft guild and build up some skill there for free! Sell your fire crystals, stacks of silk thread from Crawlers and just about anything else you get off the mobs on the AH. Once you're kickin everythings butt in Saruta, head to Giddeus. You should be able to get your cloth level up to a decent number for free by lvling in and around Windy as material for the early lvls are abundant. After Giddeus I'm not 100% but probably either B. Penisula (SP) or the Dunes (bleh!).

if you want to be a mage, either blm or whm, you should be a taru.
If you want to be a rdm like you said then i recomend being a mithra or a hume.

It really depends on what you want from your RDM. A taru could maybe get by by going the dagger route, and some daggers can be very effective. He'd be able to cast every enfeeble in the book on a mob and still have plenty of mp to heal himself. I'd think a Hume is probably the best RDM choice, but the Mithra's agility and balanced stats make them very good here, this is correct. However, I have an Elvaan RDM. Many would say this is a no-no because of the admittedly low supply of MP. However, he makes up for this by doing significantly better melee damage. Besides, your subjob can go a long way toward amplifying your strengths or defeating your weaknesses in this job. The RDM is so wide open that you can really do anything you want with it. Like to cast? A taru won't disappoint. Wanna fight but still have some magical ability? The Elvaan is sublime and I'm sure a Galka would be OK here as well, although then you'd really be low on magic. Unlike other jobs, there really is no race that absolutely CANNOT be a RDM. Not very helpful, I know.
