Ni vs. San : FFXI General Discussions

Anybody tested out a San spell vs. a Ni elemental ninjitsu spell? I havent found any information on the San spells like cast time, cool down time, or damage done compared to the same type of Ni spell. Any info you can give is greatly apprieciated, I would like to know if it will be worth fully meriting or not to bother with it.

I don't know exact details, but they appear rather unpopular. I think they're about the same cast time as NI, and do 30% more damage. Nobody's done any reported testing that I've seen that indicate a stronger elemental debuff, which is arguably the only point to elemental ninjutsu at 75.

That is basically why I was considering fully meriting suiton and suiton san for debuffing before blms bursted thunder/bursts. That along with nin af2 head and feet, and some merits in ninjitsu skill itself, thought maybe the spells might actually do decent damage for hate control aswell. But like you said nobodys posted any info on this and dumping 30 merits into it to try it dont sound to fun to me.

At level 75 you can't really be expected to hold hate the entire PT anyways... If your setup is (Example) BLM WAR RNG RDM DRK SAM, you have a 10% chance of holding any hate, and that's only if the other players suck at their job. I merited the San spells and hey were barely better then the Ni ones, but then again I don't macro for spells anyways... But still, where my Ni did 106, my San would do like 133. Its not much better and the hate gain is still small. You probably get more hate from fast attacks at 75 then you do from spells.
