If you enjoy leveling more than farming, I would definately steer clear of Ranger or Ninja, at lvl 60rng/nin using a gun I spend well over 200k in a 2hr xp party. Shihei and silver bullets will kill you (Shihei has hit 16k on Asura, silver bullets 12-18k). Sam is cool but in order to do good damage and be useful you should try to get the best gear you can at all times. You will be fine with your war at 35 considering it's going to take you probably 6-10 months to get to lvl 70 monk anyways.
Good luck and Happy hunting

For the Subjob just have it enough up there to keep you going. I mean you dont need to have it maxed at start. beest way i go with it is by area. 1-10 , 10 -20 , 20-25 , 25- 28, 28-32~33 - 33-36~37.
SOLO , Dune , Qufim , Yhut jungle, Yhaotor jungle, Citadel ~ Nest.

For the advance job It's up to you really. Goes with what you like is the best way to go. But dont Lv too many at the same time. For me i luv Ninja So i LV ninja n Beast., thisway i solo make ky money with bst and , i quest most af my ninjitsu. or another way is thf but i would recommand sub ninja with it so abit of money there . or on great idea is Rng. get it to 40+ for BCNM n make money for the others . but me i luv bst n now going thf cause i went broke. Golive on Carbuncle if u need any help just /t <me> , I love helping people. LV70 Rdm, 56 BST, 46 THF, 40 NIN , 37 BLM the rest r just good enough as sub.

SAM/WAR is fun, but SAM/THF is great. Sam is one the nice job out there and require liddle cost but more then other jobs. For NIN and RNG, most of my friends leveling them have either a High lv for farming or decent lv Woodworking. But i'll say Rng is alot more expensive then NIN is. so try them out to 20 or so n see for yourself. Most of them require little money at start. it's lv 40+ when the money starting to be an issue. Good Luck

I think you really need to figure out what your goals are in this game. If you plan on going end-game and taking on the toughest mobs, melee is useless. The groups that can kill Kirin in 40 minutes with only 24 people will have nothing but NIN, WAR, RNG, BRD, WHM, BLM, RDM. Nothing else. I highly advise against leveling anything but these jobs or thief. If you want to level very very fast and not spend money, go BRD. You won't regret leveling BRD.

brd is cheep as you can buy every song from various npc's(tracking them down is annoying though-airship pass helps alot...). It has only a few unrealisticly priced items, which you can earn enough gil for by doing bcnm 40 circuits.

Mary's horn 200k....

Army's Paeon V is by far the most expensive song. It's 500k+ on several servers.
Just a note about monster signa, it's pretty useless at your level, you need charisma only to lower resist rates and those are rare before like 50 but once you get level 50+ you use earth / light staff instead.
The only place (before maybe 75, not been to enough hnm as bard yet to be sure it's even good enough then, so far it seems pretty trashy compared to elemental staffs) it's useful is for bcnm where you have resist problems. However, if you're doing AE sleep in like the onion bcnm then the -vit is worse than the +cha compensates. Monster signa is mostly a bst utility.
Honestly, charisma is mostly useless outside bcnm until level 70+ where you get some very high resist golems and crap. Before that focus into MP instead, those heals increase efficiency a lot, especially against ae dmg mobs such as gobliens and flies.
Anyway, don't pay premium for charisma gear at low level, instead focus on +wind/singing skill and mp gear. Get charisma gear such as +3 cha neck, +6 cha belt and +10 cha back to compensate charisma loss on other slots. These pieces are very cheap compared to what the other items cost and give better relative return. Plus they become available just about when you start needing a little extra charisma.
Yes, you might not have any gil problems but please realize more expensive doesn't mean better. If you're gonna spend gil buy astrals instead and save for +1 earrings.
this from a competent (!) max level mithra bard, Remember Mithra have low charisma compared to most races, so if you're a taru or something you need even less cha gear.

I use monter signa on bst. I helps but if u have to switch between that and ur weapons. Also as a hume I dont have problems charming most of the times.
Which is a little annoying when hunting and you charm your <t> that you are trying to kill. That is with the Bst Subbed and white as main.
Bst is whites best friend for killing EP I am starting to find out.

BST is a good job. Not very expensive. Monster Signa is nice at 17 but their are allot of ways to get charm without it.
Bst is also a job that allows you to farm for crystals pretty easily and beast seals and allot of other things will you are lvling. Only problems is that it is rather boring at times. But it beats waiting for a pty to come and invite you.
about HNM. Have u seen a 24 allieance of BST with 2hr T pets . Beating the !@#$%^&* out of an HMN.
48 vs one got to Love it.

I wouldn't say the only problem with BST is it's boring at times...
The real problem is for it to not be boring you have to exp in hard areas. And naturally, when leveling in a hard area you might die... and die... and die a little more.
(This after spending yesterday leveling as 23 bst in carpenters landing, hello no zoneline.)
But there's nothing like killing a VT solo with no PL. It took time but I did kill a VT tiger in batallia yesterday.

Cheapest Job out there = BRD! Be a bard everyone loves you and your spells are nearly free. BRD/WHM you'll never bee LFG ever again. Whitemage and Black Mage are fairly low cost in the early lvls so Bard sub job won't be expensive.
I like monk but it's harder to get a PT. (I don't know why) Ranger/Ninja I"m lvl 70/37 and I can most certainly say just don't do it! It is one of the most powerful DD's (If not the most) @ the expence that is mind boggling. I've got 2.5 Million Gil and I don't know if I'll make it to 75 in ammo alone.
