Hello xunleashed people
Been reading through the forums a bit and wanted to ask a question and raise a point.
It seems the community here is pretty friendly, and the willingness to share ones scripts is quite generous, and of course fellow customers nice enough to share their scripts do not owe anyone support.
That being said, I noticed someone made the point that xunleashed is a product being sold for a profit and thus support should be provided for the program.
So everyone's right.. right? Here's the disconnect: Xunleashed advertises itself as though it were one and the same with its scripts. Since it says to become a member because you'll be able to automate your game (without any caveat stating that some familiarity with scripts is required to do so) reactions like franssen's are almost justified (minus all the rudeness).
It should be whoever is profiting off this product's responsibilty to either provide support for using scripts that "automate your game" (yes even user made ones) OR to bill itself as what it is; nothing more than a script runner (which, of course, without scripts does nothing to automate the game).
OK so now for the question.. Should I become a premium member? The program and the community seem great, but I'm not sure I could avoid feeling duped shelling out $25 in lieu of my above point. Am I missing something? What exactly is the point of xunleashed? If someone knows how to script/code why not use some other standard framework to do it in? (As I currently do)
Thanks

Xunleashed has a lot of built in features.
FFXI windowing ability
recording macros
ect ect ect.
Xunleashed just gives you the ability to further customize your macros and such with scripts.

I'd rather say, become a member, try out what you get, if you don't like it ask for a refund.
What you pay for when you buy XUnleashed is a program made to allow scripting in games while protecting you from detection via software. (That means it circumvents any built in protection in the game, like for example the stuff in DAOC.)
You also pay for support with the program.
Finally you pay for access to the scipts users have contributed, however the support for these scripts is up to whoever submitted them and the goodwill of the community. For example a well used script will most likelly have people willing to help while a little used script can be both seriously outdated and completelly unsupported. (There are incentive programs to make users supply and support scripts.)

I would suggest the same as Asl, join and if you don't like it ask for a refund. I can tell you from experience that these scripts are extremely easy to configure, and if you put out a little effort and still can't figure things out, as long as you're not a !@#$%^&* about it (caugh, caugh...Fransen..caugh, caugh) all your questions will be answered...even from user provided scripts.

Ouch... so very true too... scripts are a nightmare to configure. And they often don't work. And debugging scripts is very difficult. And most of XUnleashed many features aren't used. I could go on but I won't.

Becareful they might flame you for saying that
P.S Xunleash is a cool tool, its the scripts configuration that are nightmarish.

Dont forget macros (record and playback mouse and keyboard) and lots of otherplugins.
See the downloads section to get an idea of what some people have made.

I'll tell you about the stuff that works 100% of the time, but first, I must tell you, to fully appreciate this program you have to have some background with visual basic. This is THE reason why people have trouble running the scripts. At this point in time most scripts are well built, well documented and well supported. There is no reason for it to not work, unless you don't know what you're doing. (here here, flame me for saying that) If you already are a programmer, none of those scripts will give you trouble, as long as you are ready for some reading.
We still cannot query everything in FFXI. Most of the stuff we know comes from a limited number of variables we can read and decoding onscreen pixels.
Now for what works:
I used this program, conbined with the DX8-9 hack, to disable several visual effects I did not want. The results is better graphics and less choppyness. No more fogs or sandstorms. Yay!
Then I got my fame maxed in windurst, in about 16hours. In the process I made a few Ks and it was so easy I also maxed it on my mules, since I can get more aspir scrolls by redoing the quest. (worth 40K each)
I can also play in windowed mode. In fact I never play in full screen. I always keep allakhazam open and I'm not cut from the world while I'm playing the game. When people on the LS have a question they turn to me, simply because I can tell them right away what they need to know.
What you do with the other ressources is up to you, but nothing is free in this world and configuring either your machine or the scripts to work together will require a little time investment, that I can't deny.

I agree for the most part with Buckbuck. This stuff isn't rocket science and my Girlfriend (television producer by trade) configured XUfish with complex routes and all the other goodies in an afternoon w/o any background in programming. If you do have VB experience you'll be in heaven with XU, but I really think you can get very very far with just a little patience and common sense.
BTW, there is a direct correlation between flaming on this website and rampant idiocy....otherwise the community is outstanding and there is a huge wealth of help and knowledge at your fingertips
