Hello,
Anyone have any suggestions for a way to record screen avi's from Final Fantasy XI? Most of the software I've tried sucks because they are such resource hogs to record on top of an already resource intense game. I want something that will record very smoothly. I've done this in Quake3 but luckily they had a /record function that you could play the demo back and export it as jpg screenshots and junk later.
My only thought of a solution so far was S-Video out the video card, record it on a VCR or something, then import it back with a video capture card. I guess I could do that, but I would certainly lose some quality going to VHS. Anyone have any other suggestions on how to get digital quality smooth AVI capture?
Thanks,
-sal

Admin has a XUMovieMaker plugin that I have played aound with. You can record movies. I am playing with different codecs to see which ones make the best movies. I'll see if I can get him to release it.

Thanks, I'd appreciate it. I know it's tough getting anything to record smoothly with the system requirements for this game, hehe.

Hi, yes I do have a Movie Maker plugin. I am trying to finish it up and release it.
It is about 90% done.

Most likelly XUnleashed won't work better than it does in Fraps, capturing a video of your gameplay is HEAVY AS HELL. Most likelly your computer is nowhere even close to as good as it needs to be to fulfil your own requirements.
Hint, good gameplay videos are either
a) recorded by a second computer
or
b) recorded from a replay which can pause when needed for the video encoder to catch up

You need special hardware, like for example a tv out and a tv in card or something like that.
