I love the game.

That being said, the most important thing to know about this game is it is not for people with just a little time. You have to have a lot of time to commit to this game.

(This is just my opp) Now, if that doesn't scare you away... You will not find ANY other game in history, MMO or otherwise, with more content. This game has so much to do you can easily play for years and still not do everything or see everything. This game dwarfs all others in scope.

Like all MMORPGs, FFXI will require alot of time to get things done. Starting out you will find it hard getting gil but as long as you start devoting a little bit of gil here and there twards a craft it will get easier.

You pay $12.95 per month for one character. Im paying $14.95 since I have 3 Characters. {for extra inventory space and to sell things aka mules}

When you 1st get the game you'll have a Free Trail Period so get it and Try it.

This IS NOT Final Fantasy and if you have played any of them you know that part 7 has nothing to do with 8, 9 and so on. Saying that FF11 fighting system and pretty much everything else is very different.

I got mad at people when I asked them well what is a MMORPG and they look at you like you are an Idiot . SO I try to explain it for you.

RPG
In FF7 everything you did was controlled you can do what you want but to progress in the story you had to talk to some NPC in the game or Beat something. NPC just in case is any character that is control by the Game. In RPGs' you go through the Story and depending on what you pick effects the ending or parts in the Story. In RPG the fighting is also set to lvl you at a certain rate. You have to invest a certain amount of time to increase your characters level and abilities.

MMORPG
In FF11 You can do what ever u want basically its not controlled their is no story you have to follow to progress in the game. The Game does have a story that you can do but dont have to. Keep in mind that following the story has benefits to make your experince eaiser. The story is usually activate by talking to NPC like RPG. SO the story side is very similiar too RPG other than the fact that one mission can take up to 3 days to do. The difference comes in LVLing and the things you need to lvl.
IN MMORPG you are considered a PC. When you go out to fight you find out very quick that fighting is very different and this is why you should try it to see this difference and see if you will like it or get use to it. After a certain lvl umm for FF11 lets say ohh Lv.10. You want to fight in a Group of 6 other PC which make a pty. The only way you make this pty is by talking to other PC in the game. Their are usually over 3k PC in the game at all times give (2k) or take (1k). This is where the major difference takes place between RPG and MMORPG. Depending on how you act will determine if you be able to pty and also what kind of friends you'll make. This is where the Game and story is. The things you have to do with other PC to LVL and make a living in the GAMES Society. Again with LVLing their is another BIG difference. That is the amount of time you will have to spend to LVL and Make Gil. The difference in the amount of time between RPG and MMORPG is ohh about 100 times more. The Best things about MMORPG will be your experience with the other PC in the Game. You be surprised at what will happen and the things you see in the game.

NOTE more Like Warning!
FF11 is very Addictive and you will lose track of time. You will also experience withdrawals symptoms if you stop playing.

One thing b4 you start. Get in a server with friends. Epople that can help you get through. It can be real hard to get the help that you need. FFXI is a teamwork type game. You most likely cant do everything on your own so, having good friends b4 you start is a plus. You'll love it, you'll hate it sometimes.

If you on Carbuncle and by any chance need some help - Look for Golive. he'll help most of the times.

I wish I had a friend when I started

It was fun doing everything by my own. But very hard and frustating.

Ex. I Decided to do the Final Rank 2 mission with my monk at lvl 14. It took a very Looooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggg time to get from Bastock to Sandy on foot with no map. And even Longer to get to Windy to Find Out that I needed to be LVL 25 and have a sub job. Before even trying to fight the Dragon. Needless to say I Delete that character and stopped playing for a while  .

(About 2 days and then I had to start playing again. Stupid addiction breaths heavily hmmmm i should start play again. )

If I had a Friend with exp at that time. He would have slapped me and pointed me in the right direction. Keep in mind FF11 is my 1st MMORPG.

Yeah those where the Good old days. Now im Lvl 52 and I still have not seen all their is to see in the game. About to hit 1 yr mark. Once you learn the game it gets allot easier though.

Warning :
It takes about a Month to get the game out of Your system and that is going Cold Turkey. The 1st 2 weeks Computers, the internet and the Ps2 are your worst enemies. You see one and think about the game and how you need to get a good connection. Not to mention you have dreams about the Stupid game. It was very annoying. Not to mention that the Day was a whole lot Longer without the game.

Just think, I am not a hard core gamer I only play about 4 hrs at most about 3 times in a week. I can see some people having serious problems if they had to go Cold Turkey on the game. I have friends that play almost 24/7!
