REFERENCE SECTION
Refer to this area for locations of easily-bought materials.
Vendors that sell logs:
Arrowwood/Ash Logs - Norvallen Vendor
Mille - Bastok Mines (G-6)
Machielle - San d’Oria South (G-9)
Posso Ruhbini - Port Windurst (D-7)
Lauan Log - Sarutabaruta Vendor
Baehu-Faehu - Windurst Waters (G-5)
Maple Log - Fauregandi Vendor
Rodellieux - Bastok Mines (H-7)
Vichuel - North San d’Oria (F-4)
Sheia Pohrichamaha - Port Windurst (B-4)
Nearly all logs and lumber can also be purchased from the Carpenter's Guild. Carpenter's Landing also has a guild vendor who sells logs and Bundling Twine. Twine is also available from the furniture shop in North San d’Oria.
----------------------------------------------------------------
OPENING NOTES
All synths use Earth Crystals unless specifically noted.
To be able to level to 60, I suggest an opening bankroll of about $250-300,000 gil depending on your server economy. To level 80, add another $200,000, possibly more if you don't have a Lu Shang. In addition, I suggest you have at least two Gobbiebags done and mules in each city to sell your products - you will be making a TON of things and the more AH slots you have to unload them, the better.
For levels 23-62, I suggest buying and placing Yellow Jars in your Mog House. And beyond that, swap them for White Jars when you're doing Light Crystal recipes. Getting Moghancement - Earth/Light will help save gil on lost materials due to fails.
Most of your synthing should be done in the guild shop, with Advanced Synth Support. When you're 1-2 levels below the cap, you can do without. Some say support reduces your skillups - I haven't noticed it myself.
At the X8's (8, 18, 28 etc) you will need to turn in a test item to the guildmaster to continue skilling up. Most of them are freely available at either the Jeuno or Sandy AHs, but I've included the recipes if you want to make them yourself.
The Troupe Valeriano (aka traveling freakshow, aka annoying bard music people) has a Mithra near the group who will quiver stacks of 99 arrows/bolts in exchange for a Carnation for each quiver. Carnations can be AH'd or bought at M&P's Market in Upper Jeuno. She quivers Iron, Beetle, Silver and Horn arrows, and Darksteel and Mythril Bolts.
Level 8 – Workbench – Earth Crystal + 4x Lauan Lumber
Level 18 – Maple Table – Earth Crystal + 4x Maple Lumber
Level 28 – Harp – Earth Crystal + Coeurl Whisker + 2x Chestnut Lumber
Level 38 – Traversiere – Wind Crystal + Oak Lumber + Parchment
Level 48 – Rose Wand – Wind Crystal + Rosewood Lumber + Black Chocobo Feather
Level 58 – Kaman – Wind Crystal + Silk Thread + Wool Cloth + Bamboo Stick + Elm Lumber
Level 68 – Ebony Wand – Wind Crystal + Ebony Lumber + Giant Bird Feather
Level 78 – Commode – Earth Crystal + 5x Rosewood Lumber
Level 88 – Mythic Pole – Wind Crystal + 2x Ancient Lumber
Note that prices stated are based on what I paid on my server – your results may vary.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
PART 1 - Levels 1-10
Previews: Easy, quick skillups here. Save most of your results for later recipes.
0-2: Arrowwood Lumber - Wind Crystal + Arrowwood Log
Note: Keep these logs, you will be using them in later synths.
2-5: Maple Lumber - Wind Crystal + Maple Log
Note: Keep these to make maple tables or AH them.
5-8: Ash Lumber – Wind Crystal + Ash Log
Note: Save these for Arrow synths later.
8-10: Willow Lumber – Wind Crystal + Willow Log
Note: Again, save the lumber. If the Woodworking guild runs out of logs, head to the Tanner's Guild in South San d’Oria and pick up some more.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
PART 2: Levels 11-20
Previews: Small roadblock here, but work through it.
10-12: Willow Lumber – Wind Crystal + Willow Log
Note: Get two more levels out of them here before you move on.
12-14: Willow Wand – Wind Crystal + Willow Lumber + Insect Wing
Note: This should eat up all the lumber you made, sell these to NPC as they AH slowly.
14-20: Maple Sugar – Lightning Crystal + Maple Log
Note: Sells in the Windy AH albeit quite slowly, put it on a mule or 2. I parked mine overnight in front of the Port San d’Oria AH – still took a few days to clear it out. Expect a good number of fails in the early going, and if the region is under beastman control, be at the guild early to buy as many maple logs as possible.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
PART 3 - Levels 21-30
20-22: Yew Lumber – Wind Crystal + Yew Log
Note: This will be a bridge synth to make the following recipe.
22-23: Yew Wand – Wind Crystal + Yew Lumber + Yagudo Feather
Note: Feathers are dirt cheap in the Windy AH and a bit more expensive in Sandy. These wands sell slightly better than Willow, but not by much. AH them if you're patient, otherwise NPC and move on.
23-30: Silver Arrows – Earth Crystal + Ash Lumber + Yagudo Fletching + Silver Arrowhead
Note: Fletchings and Arrowheads are normally plentiful in the Sandy AH. This is another fairly large gap with little else cheap to bridge so keep at these. Make them into quivers and AH them in Jeuno, they're fairly fast sellers.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
PART 4: Levels 31-40
Previews: At this point, you can do a Guild Contract for Lumber Jack. I suggest you do this ASAP, as the gil it saves by doing 3 logs at once makes turning logs to lumber viable again.
30-31: Book Holder – Earth Crystal + Holly Lumber + Lauan Lumber
Note: Bridge synth, sell to NPC.
31-38: Beetle Arrows – Earth Crystal + Arrowwood Lumber + Beetle Arrowhead + Chocobo Fletching
Note: Lumberjack the logs if you can, otherwise buy them and everything else from the AH. Quiver these as well and sell them in Jeuno.
38-40: Fang Arrows – Earth Crystal + Arrowwood Lumber + Fang Arrowhead + Yagudo Fletching
Note: These do not quiver
-----------------------------------------------------------------
PART 5: Levels 41-49
40-42: Fang Arrows – Earth Crystal + Arrowwood Lumber + Fang Arrowhead + Yagudo Fletching
Note: Get another couple levels out of them.
42-44: Flower Stand – Earth Crystal + Yew Lumber + Lauan Lumber
Note: Bridge synth, NPC them for a fairly big loss or skip directly to the next synth.
44-49: Horn Arrows – Earth Crystal + Arrowwood Lumber + Horn Arrowhead + Bird Fletching
Note: You should make good money on these. Quiver them and sell to Jeuno.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
PART 6: Levels 49-62
Previews: You will end up making money, but get ready to feel the pain of a huge level gap.
49-59: Scorpion Arrows – Earth Crystal + Arrowwood Lumber + Scorpion Arrowhead + Insect Fletching
Note: probably ended up making 50-60 stacks of arrows to get this far. Keep your synth support up, and don't get discouraged by the massive fail rate early. You'll start off with .2 and .3 skillgain and it all evens out in the end. These don’t quiver but they sell incredibly quickly.
59-62: Darksteel Bolts – Earth Crystal + Yew Lumber + Darksteel Bolt Head
Note: I suggest you Lumberjack the Yew and quiver the results. They sell for a nice profit.
59-62: Tarutaru Fishing Rod – Light Crystal + Broken Taru Rod
Note: Take a bunch of rods and your choice of big fish bait to the ferry. Fish off the stairs, and repair the rods as they break. Repeat until you're out of rods/crystals.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
PART 7: Levels 63-80
Previews: I'm splitting this off into 2 parts. There will be a couple options for each level range.
62-68: Bodkin – Earth Crystal + Arrowwood Lumber + Armored Arrowhead + Black Chocobo Fletching
Note: Much better than Demon Arrows, Bodkins may actually profit on your server, depending on availability.
68-73: Clothespole – Light Crystal + Broken Clothespole
Note: See Tarutaru rods above for how to break. I suggest breaking all the rods you have and going back to the guild for support on these until about 70.
68-72: Tarutaru Folding Screen – Earth Crystal + 3x Rattan Lumber + 3x Parchment
Note: To be honest, I used the Fishing path, so this is all hypothetical from this point forward - this seems like the cheapest available synth at that level.
73-80: Lu Shang's Fishing Rod – Light Crystal + Broken Lu Rod
Note: Again, see above, but be especially careful here. If you zone during the synth, if you are damaged by anything, or if you get a spell cast on you during the beginning of the synth you will lose the rod! Otherwise, you can't lose the broken rod from a failed synth. Be sure you know how much time you have until the ferry docks, keep away from Sea Horror and other mobs and try not to synth it when pirates attack any AoE can wreck your rod.
72-77: Commode – Earth Crystal + 5x Rosewood Lumber
Note: With Rusty Fishing in the toilet, these sell for a lot less than they used to. Save 1 for your guild test and make a bit back on them if you can in the AH.
77-81: Battle Fork – Earth Crystal + Ash Lumber + Trident
Note: It's either this, or Cabinets.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
PART 8: Levels 80-91
Previews: This can be very expensive or slightly profitable; I hope your server is good to you. I HIGHLY recommend you start leveling Bonecraft before getting to the end of this section as it is required for the final recipe.
80-83: Mithran Fishing Rod – Light Crystal + Broken Mithran Rod
Note: Like before take these to the ferry and break them. Use meatballs for best results.
81-86: Eremite’s Wand – Earth Crystal + Willow Lumber + Hermit’s Wand
Note: This is a great alternative to doing the Mithran route but finding Hermit’s Wands can be a pain. Check the AH often and don’t plan to powerlevel through here.
83-87: Mithran Fishing Rod – Wind Crystal + Rattan Lumber + Rainbow Thread
Note: This will cost quite a bit per synth but at minimal loss depending on your server. This may even bring in a profit.
87-91: Kabura Arrows – Earth Crystal + Bamboo Stick + Kari Arrowhead + Giant Bird Fletching + Ram Horn
Note: This synth REQUIRES Lv53 Bonecraft to do. You shouldn’t lose much money here and probably will make a profit depending on your server. However the ingredients take up lots of space in your inventory and will give you a headache.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
PART 9: Levels 91-100
Previews: The home stretch, expect to lose money here. I suggest leveling Smithing before coming into this section as it will be hugely helpful! This section is heavily dependant on your server economy which is why you will find most guides do not include it, but I will give you my best route. I have not included the CURSED gear in the skillup guide but you may want to make these, it really depends on the demand on your server.
91-92: Divine Lumber – Wind Crystal + Divine Log
Note: If you can get a level out of these you might as well.
91-94: Eight Sided Pole – Earth Crystal + 2x Walnut Lumber + Mythril Ingot
Note: Pretty cheap synth compared to the rest of the stuff in this range but it REQUIRES Lv31 Smithing. Best get smithing up before coming here.
94-96: Lqr. Tree Sap – Water Crystal + Lacquer Tree Log
Note: This is option 1 of this level range, do the one that will suffer the least loss on your server.
94-97: Divine Sap – Water Crystal + Divine Log
Note: Like above this is option 2.
94-98: Royal Bookshelf – Earth Crystal + Brass Ingot + 3x Mahogany Lumber + 2x Ebony Lumber + 2x Lqr. Tree Lumber
Note: Option 3, you may want to combine all three or just do one, its up to you.
96-99: Lancewood Lumber – Wind Crystal + Lancewood Log
Note: Depending if you did Royal Bookshelf this may just be a simple bridge synth for you.
99-100: Iron Splitter – Wind Crystal + 2x Walnut Lumber + Adaman Ingot
Note: Can you say expensive? If you get past this then congratulations you have done it!
I hope you enjoyed the guide and I look forward to seeing all you Lv100 Woodworkers soon.

Hi.
Just noticed this - looks kind of familiar.
As in, it looks sorta like this: http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/forum.html?f ... 2491166935
As much as I love my work being taken almost verbatim without credit... I don't. At least have the integrity to ask me if you can use my guide as a starting point.
Cheers!

I was skeptical when I saw that you had plagiarized, because I had read the other thread before. I did't recall it going to lvl 100 so I went back and checked it out. This thread is a copy paste. FYI next time you choose to steal someone elses work you should at least take time to paraphrase so it looks like your own work.

This guide is better than the original due to the fact it goes to 100 which the original failed to do so. Stolen or not the guide was finished by someone who could do so. The original was of no use to people like me in upper 70 ww.

Umm
He has the right to use the guide but He did need to reference so credit is given to where credit is do.
Even if he changed the words or made it eaiser to understand or like in this case copy and paste.
Not discouraging you but a simple line of
Thanks to Blah from site www.blahblah.blah
would be all you would have needed to do and then added your part stated this is my part since its eaiser or since the guide was not complete or for what ever the reason is.
Chao and happy writting.
By the way if the creator of the guide all ready said he made it their is no reason to refrence it now other than as a gesture or respect

Well i'm lv39 Woodworking (Apprentice) and since stacks of materials are now 99 (ie. Bird Fletchings and Fang Arrow Heads) materials are expensive. I can't afford to lost materials on failed synths of Fang Arrows. If i may make a suggestion. From levels 38-42, synth Elm Poles (wind crystal + 2 Elm Lumber). Skill ups are great and when that stops skilling then switch to Fang Arrows. (Good thing my main is a 71THF and i can afford to lose materials, cuz i'll steal stuff and replenish my stocks.)

Kabura arrows to 91.. need bone53 sub
profit synth.. farm ram horns for better profit.
91-94, eight sided pole, smithing sub 31..
cheap synth, mythril ingot (100k/stack) 2 walnut lumber (make your own lumbers with lumberjack, npc in carpenters landing sells them for around 600 each)
94-95, bookshelf. goldsmithing 6
Tufa x3 (goldsmithing guildhouse 20k each), Mahogany Lumber x3 (make your own lumber around 8k/log). This synth is break even. sells on AH for around 100k.. and usually comes up as GP item. synths on windsday for maximal skillup.
95-96. Lacquer Tree Sap
Water Crystal
Lacquer Tree Log x1 (npc in ru'lude garden, 50k each). 50k/synth loss here. just toss or npc the sap.
96-98. Cythara Anglica.
Earth Crystal
Ancient Lumber x2, dont even try to synth those from petr. logs. hard to hq. (sells for 500k/stacks on diabolos)
Ebony Lumber x2, buy from AH
Coeurl Whisker x1 buy from AH
This stage is really bad. around 100k/synth loss.. but try to desynth and get the ancient lumber back.
98-99 Lancewood Lumber
Wind Crystal
Lancewood Log x1 only way to get this item is from dynamis and AH
sells for 80-100k each on diabolos. bad skillup rate on these.
98-100. Orichalcum Lance Smithing (60), Goldsmithing (60)
Fire Crystal
Ruby x1,
Orichalcum Ingot x1,
Ash Lumber x2,
Darksteel Ingot x1
This stage is the best in my opinion.. break even synth
dont try this if u dont have the sub craft lvled. ruby around 1m and the ingot around 1mil. but the lance sells for 2m+. very good skillup rate on watersday.. i was 99+3 when i did this synth and a managed to hq and sold the triton lance for 75mil ^^ !!!
BTW, dont flood the market.. takes time to sell this item and its drg best weapon at 75 (relic better but hell... who has that).

btw i am at 72 woodworking and gave up because of the money drain it was and i didnt plan on lving it far enough to get HQ staves. (which was my original goal untill i found out how much crafting costed)
