Guide to the Ballista License
By -Devilreaver-
Please leave comments
Oh, please send me the positions of the heralds for the ballista and I'll update it here.

Prerequesites
1. You MUST Be Rank 3 In Home Nation

NPC Locations and Useful Positions
1a. Bastok Conflict Director - Invincible Shield - Metalworks - G-8 1b. Bastokan Palace - Metalworks - J-8

2a. San d'Oria Conflict Director - Excenmille - North Sandoria - D-9 2b. San d'Orian Palace - Chateau d'Oraguille - I-9

3a. Windurst Conflict Director - Mhabi Molkot - Heavens Tower - Clerical Chamber 3b. Windurstan Leader - Kupipi - Heavens Tower - Clerical Chamber

4a. Pashhow Marshlands Ballista - (I-7)
4b. Meriphataud Mountains Ballista - (G-7)
4c. Junger Forest Ballista - (I-8)

Obtaining the License
1. Speak to your Nation's Conflict Director (Locations Above). You will recieve a lengthy cut scene explaining the history of Conflict and the reinstatement of Ballista. You will recieve two letters, one for the director of each of the other two nations. You must now travel to the other two nations. 2. Go to one of the other two nations and travel to the palace, positions given above. You will recieve a cut scene of the city's leader being full of themself and you will then be sent to the director. Find the director and talk to him to lose one of the letters. You're all set! 3. Go to the other nation and follow the same path; travel to the palace, get the cut scene, go to the director. 4. Travel back to your home nation and speak with the Conflict Director again. He will congratulate you and send you to see your nation's leader. 5. Go to the palace and speak with the leader (Bastok and San d'Oria open doors, Windurst talk to the leader). Another cut scene will occur. 6. Go back to the Conflict Director and you will recieve a Ballista License. **You're done now... But I suggest you do this.** 7. Talk to the Conflict Director and ask about Conflict Earrings. The director will talk about them and will give you one if you choose to accept.

Ballista Schedule of Events
1. Matches ate played only on even days in Vana'diel time.
2a. Day 2, 8, 14, 20, and 26 are San d'Oria vs. Bastok.

2b. Day 4, 10, 16, 22, and 28 are Bastok vs. Windurst.

2c. Day 6, 12, 18, 24, and 30 are San d'Oria vs. Windurst.

3. Each Month has a different Level Restriction as well as a different Entrance Fee:

--2nd and 8th Month: Level Cap 40 - Entry Fee: 1600gil

--4th and 10th Month: Level Cap 50 - Entry Fee: 3000gil

--5th and 11th Month: Level Cap 60 - Entry Fee: 4800gil

--3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th Month: No Level Cap - Entry Fee: 7500gil

Ballista Rules
1. Find a Petra: A Petra is a rock hidden by the Herald. Find one by using the /quarry command. Don't always expect a petra, however, as the Herald sometimes hides other items too, which must be used immediately and not kept. You cannot lose petras unless you die, leave the area, or score. 2. Successfully use Sprint: /sprint is a command only usable by players that do not hold a petra. It temporarily boosts speed (like Flee), allowing the player to cover ground quicker. 3. Successfully use Scout: /scout is a command only usable by players currently holding a petra. It gives you the closest location of a Rook (the goal), which change randomly. Scout will give an approximate location and direction of the nearest rook, allowing for the player to find it. 4. Gate Breach: In order to open up the Rook to score, you must achieve Gate Breach. In order to achieve this, the player must kill a member of the opposing team. The time period that the Gate Breach is allowed is very low and a score must be achieved ASAP.

Useful Items and Commands
1. Conflict Earring: Key Item. This item will provide novices with tips, tricks, and information about Ballista during the match. It is useful for those without much experience. 2. /quarry: Quarry allows you to dig into the ground and find Petras. It's also useful to find other items such as potions. However, Heralds do not allow item storage so the item found must be used immediately. 3. /sprint: Sprint allows you to run faster temporarily, like Flee, allowing you to travel across more land and find petras. Command is only usable by those that do not have any Petras. 4. /scout: Scout allows you to find Rooks a lot easier than searching for a needle in a haystack. Command is only usable by those that carry a Petra.

Vocabulary
1. Petra: The "ball" in the game. Attempt to throw these rocks into a Rook. 2. Rook: The "goal" in the game. Petras are thrown into these only after a Gate Breach. 3. Gate Breach: Status achieved after an opposing team member is killed. Required for a goal. 4. Herald: The referee of the match. The Herald places the petras prior to the match. 5. Pursuivant: An assistant that will provide information to team members if they have a Ballista Earring. 6. Camp: The "Home Point" of the match. Players can be teleported here after dying if they wish.

Special Abilities
1. Provoke: Provoke can be used to force an opposing team player to lock his target on the provoker. This does not always work, but can be used to save a teammate. 2. Steal / Mug: Abilities can be used to take Petras from opposing team players. 3. Auto-Attack: The Range of melee weapons is increased. 4. Resistance: Resist Abilities are enhanced
