Carpenters' Landing is one of the lasted areas added to the world of Vana'diel with the recent expansion pack Chains of Promathia. Carpenters' Landing has the same level ratio of the monsters in the Valkurm Dunes. This is a great alternative for partying at Lv. 17-22 when the Dunes is crowded with people. Not only is this a great area to level at a lowbie job, but it this area can help you make money as a job who is starting out.

There are two main monsters that are worthwhile to farm. The first one are the Tigers the reside at Carpenters' Landing. Now, other than this area, there are only thee areas where Tigers can be farmed; all of which are of a high level. These areas are Jugner Forest, Batallia Downs, and Beaudicine Glacier. Also, these areas doesn't have an abundant population of Tigers. Even if they do, the are spread apart throughout the whole area. Carpenters' Landing, although an 'Open-Area' itself, is a small-mapped area where Tigers are litterally everywhere.

Why Tigers? Tigers drops two main sources of items that make up half of your profit. These two items are Tiger Fangs and Tiger Hides. Tiger Fangs can bunch together to form a stack of 12. These Fangs can get you 2,100g per three Fangs by trading it to an NPC. The NPC that will buy the Fangs off of you is Tamila, the old Elvaan Lady in Tamila Sundries in Southern San d'Oria. If you collect at least one stack of Tiger Fangs per farming run, you have already collected 8,400g! A hefty profit even for just an hour run. Tiger Hides, on the other hand, can add up to your profit. These Hides can be sold on the Auction House for 1,000g-3,000g depending on your server. Tiger Hides can be sold over night since Leathercrafters need Hides to skill up. If you're really lucky, crafters my purchase your Tiger Hides after one minute of selling them on the AH!Tiger Fangs have a drop rate of 1:4 and Tiger Hides has a drop rate of 1:6. These are good odds but you may find yourself clearing a whole area of Tigers but not have a single drop. Don't worry, the map is layed out as it is for a reason.

Where are the Tigers? I'd say the best place to farm Tigers would be at Central Landing. This area of Carpenters' Landing is accessed through the most Western Part of Jugener Forest. Upon entry, you will find yourself in a cave similar to those caves of Crawlers' Nest and Boyahda Tree. You can obtain a map by purchasing from the Map Vendor at Northern San d'Oria. Central Landing is divided by three different areas all connected to one tunnel. These three areas are lighted areas near the water, not inside the tunnels. Tigers only appear in the areas outside of the tunnels which make them easy to find. No Tigers will appear inside of the caves to ensure you will always find Tigers on that piece of land only. You don't have to stay one piece of land. Doing this will create downtime and lack of Tigers.

Since Central Landing has three areas filled with Tigers, rotate. Start with the southern area of Tigers and work your way up. The areas are stacked from the south end, middle, and northern end. Rotate as if you were walking back and forth on a straight line. Farm Tigers until there are none left. When you reach the northern land and there isn't any Tigers left, take this time to heal yourself. Don't bother walking around with low HP searching for Tigers. Let most of them respawn so you can stay in one area for more than five minutes. Once you are ready to go, rotate again. From the northern end of the map, go back down south. Farm Tigers in the middle land, then the south, and heal. Keep doing this and you will have almost zero downtime.

The second monster to farm in Carpenters' Landing are Elementals. Now, at Lv. 35 these could be a bit tough no matter what job you are. The Elementals that exist in this area are Lightning Elementals and Water Elementals. They reside in the areas Tigers are and mostly near the water. You may already know that Elementals drop Clusters. Clusters can also add to your profit. Lightning Clusters can range from 5,000g-7,000g depending on yourserver. Water Clusters can range from 1,000g-2,000g. These Clusters can be sold on the Auction House and sell really fast since Crafters crave for Crystals. Water Clusters can also add to your profit, but it depends if 1,000g is worthwhile to you. One thing that's good for Water Clusters is to trade the Crystals for Rank Points to help you get to the next mission.

Remember, farming in Carpenters' Landing can make a hefty profit for an adventurer as low as Lv. 35. Not only low levels can make money from farming in this area, but characters as high as in the Lv. 60s as a side profit. Farming from Lv. 35 on will help pay for some of those expensive equipments you would need.

Things to Consider:

~Remember, you win some, you lose some. When you lose, you gain experience and knowledge. Learn from your mistakes.

~There will always be competition. So what? People need money too.

~Keep track of how much money you get per Farming Run. You'll know if you want to increase or decrease the hours worked per run.

~Don't complain if you don't get a drop. When you killed it for the thousanth time and still no drop, then you can complain.

~Money Adds Up. Don't try to get 100mil in 3 seconds because that isn't possible. Work your way to become rich.

~Do stuff that YOU can do. A DRG can't replace a RDM, nor can a RDM replace a DRG.

Happy hunting and good luck on your adventures!
