FFXI guide to millions of gil: 3 years of experience talks.. : FFXI Submissions

So far I have been playing final fantasy online on the pheonix server for about 3 years or so, basically since the beginning. Over this vast amount of time I have come across a number of ways to make significant amounts of gil. Some of these tips are great for just starting out players, and others require you to be higher leveled. (I am RDM75/NIN37 and BST75 myself so I have quite the solo capability).

Anyways let's start from the beginning:
LEVEL ONE!
Any starting player in ffxi has a tough time making money, and therefore usually sucks (go to the dunes and find out for yourself). So any time a friend asks me, how do i make gil? I tell them this: Get your job to lvl 5 or so, and just farm some fire, wind, or dark crystals to sell, make a bit of $. Invest that in (1) Carbon Fishing Rod and (2) Insect balls. Take this to PORT SAN D'ORIA, BASTOK MARKETS, or WINDURST WALLS and fish for MOAT CARP, you will be one of the richest noobs anyone has ever met in one nice day. (Did this myself as a noobie and had astrals and all that bling, was nice as an elvaan rdm)

ok, aside from the lame tips that really do make a huge difference at a lower lvl, here come the millions:

This one requires you have some friends (lol)
Many people say there is no secret to making a ton of gil in ffxi, but...they're just oblivious. How else do you think those guys have SH+1, Hauby+1 etc...trust me they dont spend all their life farming tree cuttings.

Here it is-
Requirements: lvl60+ job and some friends, also, 60 beastman seals (easily saved up)
Rewards: Somewhere between 1m and 6m (varies from server to server, but these items are always going to be pricey no matter where you are)
What?: BCNM60 Demolition Squad.

My friends and I have done this several times with only a couple of failures, and are all filthy stinking rich now because of it =).

Strategy: Have the following jobs- RDM/BLM, BLM/WHMx2 (must have sleepga2), NIN/WAR x2, any job, just find a way to deal dmg or help out the others (yes this means EVERYONE can do this) i.e. BRD could use foe lullaby to sleep the harshly resistant gigas when they wake.

Ok here is the battle lay down-
Everyone enter, buff up (given).
Head to the end of the hallway, where BLM #1 ELEMENTAL SEAL + SLEEPGA TWO the BEASTMASTER MOB (the huge one).
RDM cast gravity on the big one as he will resist sleep
NIN #1 vokes and kites BST with some help of RDM
NIN #2 + DD melee down the RNG (Pinnacletosser)
NIN #1 vokes BST and everyone melees it (he will charm nin with hate)
BLMs cast sleepga on the nin when he gets charmed
BLM #2 elemental seal sleepga2 the woken gigas (when they wake)
RDM keep NIN with hate hasted and blms and yourself refreshed (you might have to kite a mob at the end for a bit.

After the BST goes down it's cake. Wake NIN #1 and melee down the WAR (guy with huge axe). Then proceed to beat down the MNK.
MNK uses 100 fists, have the RDM elemental seal and BIND it, followed by GRAVITY and maybe a sleep. Wait 30 sec, then finish him off.

THE NICE THING ABOUT THIS BCNM IS IT ALWAYS DROPS RSE2 HANDS WHICH RANGE FROM ONE MILLION TO OVER TEN MILLION ON MY SERVER (hume M hit 16m in december on pheonix)

This one isnt much of a secret, but KSNM30 BLMx5 party.
Grab a Lacheisis orb from Shami in Port Jeuno and hit Quadav land with a BLM party, get lucky and the following could drop (and do quite often):
Damascene Cloth- 3m-6m on pheonix
Damascus Ingot- 5m-7m on pheonix
Venemous Claw- 8m-10m on pheonix

The great thing is, you just have to take a /sit inside the bcnm while the BLMs do the rest; no chance of loss, nice chance of affording that next godly peice of equip you always wanted.

One last bcnm for those who aren't quite the lvl 60+ rdm everyone knows they wanna be =P.
BCNM40 Under Observation:
Recommended setup is BST/WHM, BST/NIN, NIN/(WHMorWAR)
Basically you go in and fight 3 Hecteyes. Two weaker and One "boss".
Have the NIN grab initial hate of one of the weaker ones and "back tank" it (face away from it and just keep spamming elemental ninjutsu non-stop). Have the BST/NIN kite the boss NM (while slapping his CourierCarrie on the 2nd weak one) and the BST/WHM throw his pet on the other weaker one as well, be sure to fight the eyes out of aoe range as they cast firaga. When the ninja's mob dies, have him "back tank" the second weak eye until it dies (BST/WHM stay nearish the NIN to cure some). When the second one dies, have the BST/NIN bring it to the arena where the nin and pets will fight it (NIN does back tanking again). Pretty soon the last eye will drop dead and you will get to open a chest. Hopefully you'll get the Peacock Charm as it's worth over 20 MILLION on Pheonix, and no doubt pretty high on other servers. This drop is fairly rare but you should see one every 5-10 runs.

One of my final tips that is actually worth posting here that actually works and doesnt have some retarted catch about taking it slow and making stupid 20k an hour is this:
Pre-Zilfart HNMs.
These are HNMs that were released before the lvl cap was raised to 75 by the Rise of the Zilfart expansion.

Here are two of my favorites that i frequently solo and what they drop/how they pop etc.

1) King Arthro-
This crab is lvl 55, has tons of hp and magic, and likes to cast poisonga (whoopie). What this means is, if you are a mage lvl 60+ you have potential vs this guy, Aspir, Bind, and Gravity are the keys. Personally i just go RDM/BLM and melee because with stoneskin, protect4, and phalanx, he hits like a kindergarten girl. And with me hitting the Aspir button every time i can i usually end the fight with full mp (and a few million in Dcloth drops ^.^) He is accesible through Ranperre's Tomb entrance to Jugner Forest ONLY.

Ok, he pops every 21-24 hours and spawns a few seconds after his Knight Crabs are all defeated. These will spawn and are easily killable, followed by the King himself.

He drops Damascene cloth 1-3 regularly and on occasion, a belt worth 20m+ on my server.

2) Lumber Jack-
If you don't like competition AT ALL for HNMs camp this dude. He is in the Aged Arbor in Batallia Down (only accessible through Glacier entrance).
He is again a 21-24 hour repop. First of all, He is almost exactly like King Arthro (SE got lazy). First a "Weeping Willow" will pop, as you get it to 50% it will spawn a few baby seedlings (kill these first). When you finish off Weeping Willow, about 2-4 seconds later, Lumber Jack will spawn in the exact spot the tree died. He will cast Stonega4 (rly weak with barstone on) and Break (petrify). You have the option of aspiring him to death or just silencing him. I fight him as RDM/NIN for the fun lol, RDM/BLM is just too easy because like all pre-zilfart HNM, he is lvl 55 (just a bas@$$ lvl 55).

Anyways, he drops what I like to call the godliest sword for a PLD there is.
It's called a Bloodsword and goes for 5m+ on Pheonix (yes it drops a lot).
The thing has incredible stats for its level and on top of that, has Drain as an added effect, so yeah it's a good PLD sword (useable by PLD/DRK i believe).

This concludes my guide for the time being until my fingers stop hurting from too much typing (or i get premium, which is when they'll magically get better). But yeah, if you don't like the monotonous farming that gets you basically nowhere, learn to do this. I'm rich because of it, no reason others can't be as well. These ARE some of the secrets high lvls use. Use them wisely, and often lol.
