This is very, very simple. First (if in a low lvl area) you need to have a rdm/smn, whm/smn, blm/smn or just a smn/whatever with free carby. You need free carby. Than, all you do is summon your carby, and fish away. Carby will auto-attack any mobs you fish up, and you can just keep fishing.

I think this is well known... I do it all the time. At 75 SMN my carby handles the fished mobs very well in Sea Serpent Grotto.
I guess it is worth mentioning for those who still didnt know that...

...... Why not just use a blm and nuke some tier 4 spells to kill it.

Because not everyone has a blm ready to stand next to them for hours when they are fishing...

Hmm.. not everyone have smn to stand next to them either... lol.. summoning carby out with no cost requires quite a high level smn with refresh gear and carby mitts too... (Never played Smn, gears are my assumption.)

a 25ish carby is enough in low lvl areas, so this can work for every 51+ whm/smn...

all you really need for free carby is light staff and carby mitts. not so much the refresh gear though. or you could just pop an orange juice every now and again

saw a high lvl smn do this and fish up a sea monk; carby whipped it with ease. Wish my smn was high enough to do this
But as already posted; light staff and carby mitts = free carby. And if you're interested; the carby mitt NM is a joke. That hardest part is either finding a prelate key (or aggroing something from behind the door. Tonberry smn is the easiest to get), or finding someone who has the paintbrush of souls that is free to come with you. Duo'd it once and killed it with 3-6 others many times. I have never seen someone die from seering light. You just have to plan for it every minute or so. Get stoneskin/blink up and have a brd use light carol. Seering light was doing under 100 damage to our pld tank for most of our ls battles. Nin tank ... well you know how that goes. 0 damage to mages with blink up as well ... or at the 50 second mark, people without blink / stoneskin just run out of range.
