Okay, I suspected you guys would want some stuff to back up everything from before, and I'll address the issues raised by members concerning my last submission.
First off, in reply to me not saying what days to feed what worms... I'll just quote myself...
(!empty($user->lang['QUOTE'])) ? $user->lang['QUOTE'] : ucwords(strtolower(str_replace('_', ' ', 'QUOTE'))):
Next, once the chick has capped affection, which can be easily accomplished by checking the egg 100+ times before it hatches, occasionally you will get a message saying, "Your chocobo is perky today" or, "the chick seems in high spirits"
This is good.
On these days you need to feed the chick one of the three worms, Parasite, cupid, or gregarious. Feeding all 3 of these at the right times is what will give you 100% color.
NOTE: do not feed all 3 at once, otherwise only the first will count. You must feed it one, then wait for it to be perky again, feed it second, and so on.
Each worm raises chance of color
If I have to be specific... The worms have to be fed on the days the chick is perky, for the people who couldn't figure that out for themselves. *sigh*.
Next up, for the person who talked about having a high strength and affection, yes, with those stats you had a 70% chance of color, 70%! not 100%! You most likely didn't feed the chick the 3 worms, as I stated, which means you had a 30% chance of yellow. And due to bad luck, you got it.
Okay, now for some fun statistics! I myself have raised a total of EIGHT chocobos. Several at the same time. Ahem-mules-ahem.
The first chocobo was just pre-run to get the hang of everything, and figure out how everything worked. The next 3 were tests on if stats changed color. Lo' and behold they did. More on that in a moment.
The last 3 chocobos were tests to see if color was inherited, and all three proved that color
IS NOT!Here's the statistics...
Chocobo#2 Egg = NPC bought
Born= All stats poor
Adolescent stage = Affection capped, Str lv 3, color = red
Chocobo#3 Egg = NPC bought
Born= All stats poor
Adolescent = Affection capped, End lv 2, color = blue
Chocobo #4 Egg = NPC bought
Born= All stats poor
Adolescent = affection capped, Rec lv 2, color = yellow =P
And those were the chocos that I did my first color tests on. Now, for the real shockers..
Chocobo #5. Egg = Father=Black, Mother=Black
Born = Str lv 2, End lv 3
Adolescent stage = Str lv 3, End lv 4, Affection LV 1!!! <<<this>green, green is kinda ugly, so I made it yellow on purpose via lv 0 affection =P)
For the first 2 weeks it turned out either blue or yellow EVERY TIME we checked. Then one day his choco was very sick and it's endurance dropped 3 notches, from lv 7 to lv 4, ; ;. Suddenly wehn we checked mating capatibility the chick would be either green or red... And when he got the endurance back up and even higher, to lv 8, the chick was once again blue.
If we had mated the chocobos on the days when the chick showed blue, the chick would've been born with about lv 3 or 4 endurance and lv 2 str. Which by rights would lead to a blue chick....
If we had mated on the days when it was blue/red, the chick would've been born with lv 2 str and discernment, and lv 1 endurance, because my friends endurance had been only lv 4 at the time. These stats would've led to either a red, or green chocobo by rights. which was exactly what the CS showed.
So with all of this evidence, one cannot deny that color is in fact, determined by the stats a chick has when it enters adolescenthood, not the color of its parents.
