My (Fairy Character) Anonymous Leathercraft Guide

Taking this to 60 for sub craft!

Now before I start to discuss any kinds of synths, let me just mention that this is my own route that I took getting high in leathercraft. There’s many more than just one way for you to level a craft. This is simply just a guide to help anyone who might be struggling, or who is too lazy too look up their own way.

Now That I got that out of the way, I’m not a very wealthy person. I have enough to level a job, or power level a craft. I realized however that I am not the only person with this problem. This is the reason why I’m making this crafting guide. It’s for all those people who want to level a craft so much, but they don’t have enough gil to do that and maintain their job at the same time. This guide will take you step by step through the craft of leather, while also giving you different synths along that way that you can do to support it. (This way you won’t have to farm everything, and you can just keep on crafting)

With all of that being said - Lets get to the fun part.

Note: All of these prices are based off of the Fairy server. I realize that we have a terrible economy, but I’m sure if you’re on a different server you’ll be able to make things work. This guide was written at the current time, starting on December 8th 2005. Prices DO change for better or for worse. This will only give you an estimation of how much it might cost you.

Note: Also not that I will not be held responsible for any synths that you may fail. I will not be held responsible for any loss of many or any harm you do to your character involving this craft.

Basics:
Before starting this craft there are a few basic things that you should know.
- Most hides do NOT stack
- A lot of hides can be turned into leather with other ingredients (Wind. Tea leave, distilled water, hide) these hides can be stacked.
- If you’re looking to straight power level this craft, it is going to cost you a lot of money. If you’re willing to farm, or craft for you’re money back, you will not get to 100 in a day.

There are a few items you’ll be using A LOT

Dark Crystals – 10k (Stack AH) or you can farm in Ghelsba Outpost
Wind Tea Leave s – 3k (Stack AH)
Distilled Wate r – Always buy your distilled water from a shop. 11g a piece.

Let The Synthesis Begin!
0-2 Sheep Leather
Dark Crystal > Wind. Tea Leave + Distilled Water + Sheepskin

Sheepskin – 364g from the guild
1k – 2k from the AH
Can kill any type of sheep for sheepskin also.

Buying all materials:
Cost per stack Without Fail – 28k (Give or take)
Sale price per stack – 50-60k
Profit – 22-32k

Note: I recommend saving the sheep Leather that you get from this level. It will help you with your synths in the long run.

2-7 Rabbit Mantles
Earth Crystal > Rabbit Hide x5 + Grass Thread

Rabbit Hides – 254g from the guild
6k-7k stack from AH
Can be farmed from any rabbits / hares easily

Grass Thread – 4k-7k stack from AH
Can prolly be bought from cloth guild cheaper

Buying all materials
Cost per Mantle without fail – About 1.2k-1.4k
Sale Price per Mantle – 500g-1k HQ. 10k – 20k
Profit – Loss of 700g – 900g per synth HQ – 19k per synth

Note: I didn’t fail too much one these, but there is no prophet involved. It’s a pain in the !@#$%^&* getting 5 rabbit hides if you’re going to farm without TH. However, after searching through every possible way, this seemed to be the cheapest to level 11.

Alternate: 2-4 Sheep Wool Wind > Sheepskin x2
Note: Sheepskin is incredibly hard to get at the guild, and expensive in the auction house. The only way profit will be made is if you camp the guild.

7-11 Solea
Wind Crystal > Sheep Leather x2
This is why you saved that sheep leather.

Sheep Leather – 50k-60k stack from AH
Can Be crafted from Sheepskin +Wind tea leave + D. Water

Buying all materials
Cost per Solea without fail – 2.5k
Sale price per Solea – 1k-2k HQ – 8k
Profit – 500g profit HQ – 500g

Note: Chances are you aren’t going to want to wait for 40 solea to sell in the AH. So here’s what you do. Buy yourself a bunch of lightening crystals and get to work. Try to desynth as many as you can to save your material and synth them over again.

Here’s how it worked out for me. I started out with 4 stacks of sheep leather. I crafted my solea and skilled up a little. When I couldn’t craft anymore, I densynth them all, and skilled up some more. I gained 4 total levels on only 4 stacks of sheep leather.

While skilling up I also crafted 4 Solea +1 and made some money back on them.

11-17 Lizard Cesti
Earth Crystal > Cesti + Lizard Skin

Cesti – 132g at the weapon shop in Sandy
2k at the AH in Sandy
Lizard Skin – 50k a stack from the AH ; ;
Can be farmed from Dunes, Saramouge, Crawlers Nest

Buying all materials
Cost per Cesti without fail – 2.5k – 3k
Sale price per Cesti – 3k HQ – 20k
Profit – Even HQ – 17k

Note: You are not going to want to wait for all of these to sell. Most people don’t buy these cesti because there are MUCH better ones to use at the time. I HIGHLY recommend that you try to desynth them and try to save whatever material you can from them. You’ll skill up from it and you will also get your lizard skins back s you can craft more and save 2k per synth!

17-21 Dhalmel Leather
Dark Crystal > Dhalmel Hide + Wind. Tea Leave + Distilled Water

Dhalmel Hide – Sadly, isn’t sold by an NPC (That I know of)
1k-3k a piece at the auction house
Best drop rate with TH2 was at Tharongi (For me)

Buying all materials –
Cost per Leather without fail - About 3.5k per synth
Sale price per Leather Stack – 55k in Sandy 70k in Jueno
Profit – about 29k per stack (To Jueno)

Note: Its REALLY hard to find these hides in the AH, or at least I found it to be. Since they aren’t sold at the guild, crafters usually buy them the second they see ‘em in the AH. I would HIGHLY recommend using any TH you have so that you may get through this level as quickly as possible. You may want to keep the leather for later levels, but personally I sold them, and I don’t quite remember why.

It was a lot easier for me to level because a friend of mine was making carapace for bonework. He farmed up 30 hides in about an hour and a half and let me synth them all into leather. He let me keep half of whatever I made. /smile

21-28 Parchment
Dark Crystal > Sheep Leather + Rolanberry

Rolanberry – NPC Upper Jueno – 120g a piece

Sheep Leather – Desynth from leather vest for most profit
Buy from AH for small loss

Buying all materials –
Cost per stack without fail – 45-53k
Sale Price Per Parchment Stack – 50k
Profit – Break even, or even

Note: There are other synths that you can do to break this gap. I found that 10 levels is a little much, but I went with it and did not regret one bit of it. After desynthing all of my sheep leather I made a great profit off of skill ups.

Note: Parchment caps at 31

28-35 Ram Leather
Dark Crystal > Ram Skin + Wind Tea Leave + Distilled Water

Ram Skin – 2,750g – 5250g per skin at Guild
Farmed easily from spawning rams near Crags

Buying all materials
Cost Per stack without fail – 47k-50k
Sale Price per stack of leather – 70-80k
Profit – 23k-33k per stack

Note: If you’re smart, you will save these for your next couple of levels. I didn’t and I lost a decent amount of gil. Lucky for me, I got a 3.5mil drop from an NM so it didn’t matter that much at the time. Also at this point I’m starting to take THF up again, easier to farm my materials ^^.

35-39 Wolf Gorget
Earth Crystal > Wolf hide + Cotton Thread

Wolf Hide – Farmed from any wolfs
Can be bought at guild for 500gil

Cotton Thread – 40k a stack in the AH

Buying all materials –
Cost per synth – 5k
Sale per synth – 2k to AH ; ; or 900ish to NPC
Profit – Loss of 3k-4k per synth

39-43 Waistbelt
Wind Crystal > Ram Leather x2 + Grass Thread

Pretty much just do this one to close the gap until you can make ram mantles. They’ll both be costing you about the same amount

43-49: Ram Mantles
Ice Crystal > Wool Thread + Ram skin Ram

Sorry I don’t have a price for these.
All I know is that they were no at ALL profitable
Try to de-synth and get all of your wool back. That will save you a TON

49-52 Himantes
Earth Crystal > Lizard Cesti + Raptor Skin

Lizard Cesti – 3k
Raptor Skin – 90k-100k Stacks

Buying Materials (Have not yet reached because im level bone to 75 first)

Alternative: Moccasins until 55

52-61 Tiger Leather
Dark Crystal > Tiger Hide + Wind Tea Leave + Distilled Water

Tiger Hide – 2k from AH
Farm from Jugner, or Battalia drop rate is great.

If you make these you should save them on a mule. You’re going to need to use them later. However if you don’t wish to go further then 62 then sell them for a huge huge profit.
I only plan on taking this to 60, so I made about 10+ Stacks, which makes me about a 300-400k profit in the end.

(On the fairy server)

NOTE: Im only 42 leathercraft right now, but I do expect to take it to 60. Im concentrating right now on getting bone to AT LEAST 60. I think that adfter my experience with leather so far I’ve decided on taking bone to 100.

Currently
Boneworking: 56
Leatherworking 42
Cooking 30
Wood 15
Alchemy 28
Gold 2
Black 0 =[

I'd like my in-game name to stay anonymous therefor i changed the name at the top and posted it

^^ enjoy XD

Good guide if original. Look at the details provided. Much better than those which tells you what to craft only.

Yup. Common knowledge. All crafting guides are common knowledge ^^... It's the quality being presented. Even though this guide looks abit dull.. ( due to lack of colours etc, as compared to mystery tour etc, ) Prices included with Which npc to buy from is sort of nice.
But of course, it still lacks detail.... i have asked the author to improve this, and we will review it again ^^.
