In the never-ending quest to gain my free membership, heres another guide i thought up to write...
Now first, after the 5+ hours it take for you to install CoP, you will be wondering what it was doing all that time, well, they broke the crag crystals... But not only that, they added new areas inside the crags called Emptiness or more commonly known as Promyvion, inside there are a bunch of new mobs and items, but before we get to that, you need to unlock the ability to go in.
1. Go to lower Delkfutt's Tower, you will see a cutscene. (Bahamut rules!)
2. Go to upper jeuno, you will see another cutscene
3. Go to the upper jeuno infirmiry, (find it on the map, i know most of you never leave the lower jeuno AH) now talk to Monberauxe. (the topless elvaan guy)
4. Go to Ru'Lude Gardens, go into the palace, take a left at the
stairs and go through the door to the guard room, and talk to the lonely elf.
Alright, now ur ready to get a group together and go in, most people like to go in full alliances, but I think its much easier to go in with 6 people. Your party setup should be as follows, WHM, tank (NIN/WAR or PLD/WAR) 1 melee class,1 RNG(invaluable), 2 SMNs, or 2 BLM, or any combination of the 2.
Now with the proper party put together, go examine the broken crag crysal at one of the main crags( Mea, Dem, Holla). It will say there is a 30 cap, so click yes and go in, unless you are a tank with no gear, then click no, go get 30 cap gear, then go back and click yes...
Alright, now ur inside the hall of transferance, dont go up the middle stairs, but go to the side into either of the Large Apparatus
machines there, click it and away you go into another cutscene.
Congrats, youve now made it into the promyvion of your choice, now the fun part begins.
heres a little side notes about fighting there.
Its a 30 cap of course, so ur stuck at lvl 30, xp here is reduced to a lvl 30 base also, so that means when u kick the bucket, you only lose as much xp as you did at lvl 30 (Hurray!), oh and once you do die, and you have to Home point, then when you come back in, you have to erase your memories, you cant go in impure or something like that, so you can do that at the Large Apparatus too.
Now the emptiness mobs are a little different from most normal ones, They DO NOT link, but they do aggro, sneak and invis DO NOT work in here, they have true sight which sees you through that. The mobs weaknesses are color coated by the color of their core, so ill make a little chart thing for you.
Fire - Red center, orange glow
Earth - Brown/orange center with pieces of rock
Water - Light blueish, bubbles like the elementals
Wind - Green with whisps of air
Ice - Light blue, center looks like a solid ice crystal
Lightning - Purple haze with a light center
Light -Whiteish
Dark - Purple haze with a dark center
Ok, now we can talk about getting through this place. there are 4 floors in each promyvion, to get to the next floor, you have to kill a Memory Receptical. That is one of the big glowy balls inside the pillars. It will be surrounded by Strays, they arent too tough, but they link and spawn fast, so thats the problem. To find these guys have a RNG use widescan, now you know why they are invaluable here. A good strategy is to take out all the strays before going in for the MR. Now most people like to attack the MR from a distance and range kill it, but no, we're going to be smarter than that, go around the opposite side and position yourself against the edge of the area if you are a mage or a range attacker, and then for the melee classes, you need to position yourself right up to the MR, and in front of one of the pillars, that way when it uses Empty Seed (which has a killer knockback), you wont get thrown into space, you may need to adjust your position every time it uses it though, so now, take out the strays when they spawn, and dmg the MR, and you will be fine. Now as soon as you kill it, one of 2 things can happen, it can die and nothing happens, or it can die and a portal will spawn. You want the 2nd one, if u get the 1st, then either find another MR or wait for it to respawn and try again. Now once the portal spawns, you need to make sure that there are ABSOLUTLY NO STRAYS ALIVE. If there are still some floating around, then you will be sent back to the beginning. Once you warp through, you will be on the next level of the promyvion. If you need to go back for some reason or another, you can always go back through the other portal you will spawn next to, like if u need to zone a train or something.
Alright, now you can repeat those steps for the next 2 floor, just be sure to avoid the mobs there, the first floor is EP-DC, 2nd is DC-VT, 3rd is IT-IT+ and 4th is all IT++
You may wonder how to get a map of this place, and thats by having an enemy drop a memosphere. Once you get one, trade it to a ??? you will find along your way up and there ya go, a map.
Also you may find recollections from enemies, with those you take them to jeuno, go to where maat is, go through the door and trade it to the hooded dude with 2k and you will get an anima, those are used to weaken the boss and are very helpful. Animas go like this...
Psychoanima- causes the boss to run in fear for like 10 seconds
Terroanima- causes the boss to be bound for like 20 seconds
Hystaroanima- causes the boss to be stunned for 15ish seconds
alright, now once you get to the 4th floor, its time to rest up, buff up, and run like there's no tomarrow, try to be discrete at first and not get detected, but once you do, have someones pet take aggro, or a tank take it and run run run, you need to make it to the spire, it is very noticable once you get to it, but it really helps to have a map to guide you there, you can get one to print on allakazham i think.
Hurray, if ur still reading this you've gotten to the spire, and i know, ur uncapped, but dont celebrate yet, once u get into the BCNM, all buffs are removed and ur capped again... so take this time to rest up, use the bathroom, and refill your drinks, cause ur in for a tough fight up ahead.
Each boss has a different tendancy once you get them down to 20% HP
Holla-uses AOE sleep and curse, to counter it, use poison potions and cursna, if not, it will pick you off one by one.
Mea-uses AOE poison, slow, gravity, and on top of that, it resets hate
Dem-uses AOE attack which is pretty much Empty Seed on steriods
So heres basicly what you need to do to kill these guys, go in, buff up, drink/eat up and have the tank go in and get aggro. Next have your SMNs 2 hour if you have them and have everyone start pounding away. It also helps to have an anima rotation planned out so that the boss will never attack, and that everyone doesnt just throw out an anima at the same time and waste them. Once you get them to 20%, start praying, for holla, use ur poison potions, for mea, have ur tank voke and use antidotes, for Dem, if u have a paladin, have him use invincible, and try to get the boss near an edge you can prop up against. Just keep hacking and healing away and eventually the boss should die.
Now if you can do that for all 3 promyvions, you will be in good shape. so Congrats, you've just unlocked Taznavia, that meanes once u finish ur 3rd, u get teleported to Lufaise Meadows, and that also means u can use the vortexes in the dunes and Qufim to get there.
