just a litle trick i use on ninja for tanking
the point is to have utsu: ichi that cancel utsu:ni when cast
in standard mode when you hit your ichi macro if you want cancel your last NI shadow it require some speed and stress doing it
(got to hit + key twice and enter in the time ichi is casting)so its hot sometime.
so all i found to help me better is geting redy to erase utsu:ni before i hit utsu:ichi macro(this is note doable in regular methode).
so you got to make your ni and ichi macro built into windower script
(sea windower scripting post).
let say now utsu:ichi = F1 key and utsu:ni= F2 key
now try that
1.push F2 for cast NI
2.prepare yourself to erase NI hiting +key twice
3.let the mob erase 3 ni shadow
4.push F1 for cast ichi (ye you able now to do it with a windoed macro^^
and you are still ready on push enter to cancel the shadows)
5. count 2.3 second (depend of your speed to cast)
6. just push enter to cancel :ni when ichi is about to cast
and thats it you got 3+3 = 6 shadows then ofen ready recast Ni again^^
with 2 ninjai we tested on some hnm worked very well

No, I mean the use of Windower Macros and canceling shadows.
The guide I wrote that I sell on Ebay has a section devoted to this, almost exactly what you're saying to do, just in a different way...

I've never even had a thought about using windower bindings to mess with casting utsusemi... It's so simple that it wasn't worth investing the 2 seconds into making the bind. I've been blink tanking on many different jobs for years now and really, if you can't hit ++ in the 2-3 sec you have to cancel your shadow, then quit playing a job you need to blink on.
BUT since I haven't seen it on the site and some people who don't have much skill may have a use for this.. yey for low points. maybe 50-100.

the post up provent get what i mean lol
you cant cancel shadows as good this methode without the windower the reason is simple
you cant push "+" key get ready to erase and hit alt+1 for cast ichi at the same time
the game refuse cast ichi if your cursor is already on "shadow cancelation"
with windowed macro you can do it
so with a macro
/ma "utsu:ichi <me>
/wait "time your utsu take to cast"
/tell me "Hit enter!"
you will cancel utsu:ni exatly at the time ichi cast
you save the time to hit 2 time "+" key wich give a crap result
i tanked forever its just simply "better!"
say i no need is like peaple that say i dont need +1 item
i dont need +1 merit etc....^^
litle +1 added to + litle thing does the best player^^

I have a level 75 NIN, with 84 merits just for NIN (including a load of stat+, and other !@#$%^&*).
I've had my NIN at 75 since September 2005, and I've used it 90% of my playtime.
If you can NOT shadow cancel by clicking ++, you fail at your job and should just quit.
Yes, your little "trick" would work, but it's 100% pointless and for people who can't play their job correctly.
Shadow canceling is one of the exciting points of playing a job. If you can't do it, you fail.

Eh.. yeah this really isn't worth it. People who use this trick in my book shouldn't be playing...
Reallly, pressing + before or after you hit the macro for utsu isn't going to make a difference. Putting the "CLICK OFF" in your macro shouldn't be needed.. just watch the % bar and cancle it at 40%.
I'ma change to a nay here.
