To help prevent accounts from being stolen in final fantasy xiv they have just added a new security system. Basically when it seems suspicious account activity is going on the system will block the account temporarily. Then the primary account holder email address will be sent an email. This will give instructions how to remove this security block and reset their passwords.
I applauded square enix for trying to protect accounts but its going about in the wrong way. This is the proper way to do things.
1 - All people will be notified of this new change when they log into their accounts.
2 - By default it will be turned off but it will be strongly urged to be turned on.
3 - Players will not be forced to change their passwords if they choose not too but it will be strongly urged they do when their account has been flagged.
If they implemented the changes this way it would give players more flexibility if they travel a lot or players located over seas. However this is just going to please 80% of the games population and alienate the other 20% and in turn make a bigger deal for square because they didnt take the correct time to implement this correct.y
