The game was good but ended very shortly, however i only played it on normal. Legendary is going to take forever. It was dissapointing how the game ended all of a sudden and they didnt continue the story making you wait for the next halo. That wont come for years unfortunetly unless they decide to make a expansion pack or something.

Multi player is good except the game doesnt have a working radar which sucks. The pistol was good in the first halo because of head shots and zooming but in halo 2 you cant do either with the pistol.

I would give it an 8 out of 10 just they tried to change alot instead of just improve on a good system.

This is a pretty old post, but I'll reply anyway.

I have to disagree with you on many levels.

The ending to me is a classic cliffhanger. I have no doubt that Bungie weren't the ones that came up with this idea. I'm pretty sure Bill Gates was sitting on his 100 lb. !@#$%^&* and thought to himself, "Hey, how can I make more money from Halo? I know, I'll make them cut the game in half so they can release the end of the story in Halo 3!" It sucked, but live with it. I can't say the anticipation of Halo 3 isn't fun. It's scheduled to be released on Xbox360 in June of 2006. Atleast that's what it says on EBGames.

Regarding the radar. It's not that the multiplayer has no radar, it's just that you have it turned off. As you probably know multiplayer in Halo games is very tweakable. Turning radar off is one of the options for custom games. I assure you the radar works just the same in multiplayer as it does in single player if you enable it.

Last but not least, the pistol. I think it was a wise move on Bungie's part to reduce the damage from the pistol and remove its scope. Some people might be mad about this, but I think it drastically evened out the playing field. In Halo 1 the pistol was a powerhouse. It was easily the best gun in the game. I could get up to 50 kills without dying once in online games using gamespy by just pistoling. It was basically a 2-shot kill if you got headshots, and 3-4 shots if you didn't. The pistol in Halo 2 is much more realistic and is much more proportional to the strenght of an actual pistol. When have you seen a pistol that has zooming capabilities in real life? I know this is over 500 years in the future, but still. And just incase you havn't noticed, the battle rifle IS the pistol from Halo 1.

Think about the facts for a second.

-Halo 1 pistol: 12 bullets ammunition clip
-Halo 2 battle rifle: 36 bullets ammuntion per clip

36/12 = 3. Coincidentally the battle rifle shoots 3 shots per burst. Hmm....

-Halo 1 pistol: 2x zoom
-Halo 2 battle rifle: 2x zoom

Hmm....

Also, they're both relatively powered the same. Battle rifle is a 2-burst headshot kill. The pistol was a 2-shot headshot kill. Battle rifle is 3-4 shot body kill. Pistol was 3-4 shot body kill. It's just the same weapon with a different name. =)

Haha! Good point Haxor, I never noticed that.

I actually disliked the single player Halo 2 completely. I felt that most levels were too crowded with objects and enemies. It did not have the same feel as Halo 1's singleplayer, which I personally liked a lot, lot better. It also seems that the lighting in many of the levels in which you play as the Arbiter is too dark.

However, I have absolutely no complaints about multiplayer over Xbox Live. I feel that's a big improvement over Halo 1's multiplayer (which didn't even have Xbox Live support).

Ok just to say, halo 2 will NOT be comming out on the PC... it is one of the few things that microsoft gave us halo related at e3.....there are, however several versions avable out on the internet.... the two that i have played stay increditably close to teh actualll game, and are highly illigal...

I agree with admin about the uberness of the update, and i am suprised that noone has mentioned the map pack!!! although some of the maps suck there are enough god ones to make it worth the 20$... and you get them for free with online!

No you don't. The map pack costs an extra $4.95 added to your Xbox LIVE bill.

Im not sure i thought you had to pay until a certain date then it was free. Yea the maps are nice they arent all that great in actuality. They made it more like halo 1 where if you gun-but someone twice they die. I dont understand why they increased the dmg for the alien gernade launcher but not the needler the one cool weapon that still sucks to this day.
