34. What was the effect of the defeat at the Alamo on the Texas War for Independence? The Alamo became a rally point for Texans to continue their fight against Mexico, and they wanted revenge
35. What led to the war with Mexico? A border debate, against Texans and Mexicans. They were fighting against which land was theirs
36. What resulted form the Mexican-American war? The United States extended its territory from coast to coast
37. How did the annexation of California affect the Mexican citizens who owned land? Many Mexicans lost their land in disputes with the new American government
38. What was the last land purchase that connected the transcontinental railroad? The Gaston purchase was aquired in 1853 from mexico for a strip of land in present day Arizona & New Mexico for $10 million dollars this achieved Manifest Destiny
