There is a lot to explain here, so I'll go over the basics. There are 2 types of pets: combat and mount. Combat pets run along with you and fight. Mounts you can ride for some additional speed. You may NOT use any skills while on a mount. All combat pets and the horse mount can be used by all classes. There are, however, 4 class mounts for the 4 classes.
1)Warriors get Lions
2)Assasins get Wolves
3)Hunters get Reindeer
4)Physicians get Tigers.

Pressing the T key calls out whatever pet you have equipped.

Mount Pets

- They will level if you are just mounting them and let them get hungry, however they will only gain 1 exp every 3 minutes

- If you are fighting whilst mounting it, it will gain exp at a much higher rate than if u were to just AFK

Combat Pets

- They will level the same as mount pets out of combat

- Combat pets must be attacking for them to gain an increased exp rate gain, so just make sure they're attacking and they will gain exp

THINGS TO NOTE

- Pets only gain exp once per 3 minutes

- Unmounting or taking ur pet away will result in the exp timer to RESET, so keep your pet out at all times if you want it to keep leveling

- When a pet levels, it does not go to 0%

- Pets lose hunger at a rate of 1 hunger per minute

- Pets begin losing loyalty when hunger is below 70

- Pets regain loyalty per 1 hunger lost from 100 til 92

- Pets cannot de-level no matter how many times you kill it

The Trick in Lvling (for mounted pets)

1. GET THE WEAKEST POSSIBLE WEAPON YOU CAN FIND (aoe weapons especially)

2. FIND A MOB WHICH YOUR PET CAN TANK AND ONE WHICH YOU HARDLY DEAL ANY DAMAGE TO

3. NOW YOU GOT 3 MINUTES TO DO AS MANY HITS AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN!!!

4. Repeat step 3

Extra : The equation for a class mount to level is pretty simple....
REQ EXP to next level = Current Pet Level * 10

The Trick to Lvling (for combat pets)

1. FIND A MOB WHICH YOUR PET WILL TAKE A LONG TIME TO KILL

2. INITIATE COMBAT WITH THAT MOB BY EITHER DIRECT COMBAT OR SUPPORT (but you stop attacking it once your pet starts)

3. YOUR PET HAS 3 MINUTES TO LAND AS MANY HITS ON IT AS POSSIBLE

4. repeat step 2,3

THE SECOND TRICK TO IT ALL

Instead of hitting normal monsters, hit the mounts in venom swamp since they auto heal and you can hit them forever

Confirmed Myths

- Pets do not level by just feeding it
- Pets do not level faster the more monsters you kill
- Pets do not level faster by killing higher level monsters <- Thanks for helping me test this Valesty
- Pets do not level faster the more they get hit and healed (Confirmed for mount pets only atm)
- Pets do not gain an extra 1 exp per tick below 90 hunger <- i think this should be correct now
- Mount Pets level faster if YOU do more hits on monsters
- Combat Pets level faster if THEY do more hits on monsters
- Pets do not level faster in parties

**VERY IMPORTANT: WHEN LEVELING COMBAT PETS, IF YOU ARE WALKING AWAY TOO FAST AND YOU SEE YOUR PET SIMPLY TELEPORT TO YOUR SIDE AND SEE THAT YOUR PET TOOLBAR ON THE BOTTOM LEFT HAS RESET TO THE \"GENERAL COMBAT AND SUPPORT\" COMMAND, THE EXP TIMER FOR YOUR PET HAS BEEN RESET!!

How To Revive Pets
This is done by using Dead Spirit's Incense. You can buy these from the stable guy right outside the north exit of Dragon Castle or for a probably cheaper price (in bulk, though) from a player store in the market.
