I think that this is the thing to kill wow outright. The gameplay and graphics look a lot better that that of wow and the subscription is cheaper too so if blizzard are going too have a helluva hard time trying to keep world of warcraft number one.

The subscription isn't cheaper. If you noticed, for a month of time for those who didn't preorder, the price is roughly $18/mo. WoW is only $14.95/mo. at max.
It does however have much better graphics, and for running a rather similar engine, it does seem like it could kill WoW given a decent amount of time... and given the chance for the Blizzard fanboys/girls to realize that there IS better out there.
It's all a matter of time telling what's going to happen. It could go either way, really.

WoW will have its fanbase, and LOTR will have its fanbase. I personally enjoy LOTR more than I enjoyed WoW, but that's just personal taste. Everyone has their own.

I don't think it will kill WoW. It may take many players away from WoW for now but only time will tell whether the end-game content can live up to that of WoW.

Not really difficult in that respect. WoW didn't reinvent the wheel when it comes to end-game content. That stuff has been around since the days of EQ. Dunno bout Meridian or UO.
In many respects, WoW is just an update to an old idea. But since it is set in the Warcraft universe, it has a pre-existing fan base already due to Blizzard's many other successful games.
I think the biggest issue is that people think WoW was the first of its kind. I saw someone comment that EQ copied WoW...I couldn't stop laughing.

I doubt anything will kill WOW, only WOW2 would and I think it would be rather silly of them to do that.
I do think lotro will last, but these are my thoughts and views.
