So you if you haven't read about pvp in Lord of the Rings Online here is some news for you. There will be no real pvp in the game. Real PVP as in, able to kill some newbie hunting boars out in the woods. Instead of that kind of pvp, they implemented what's called "Monster Play" an alternative. You can play as a monster (real character must be at least level 10) or join the Free Peoples with your normal character (it must be 40 or above).

To join the Ettenmoors find a Fell Scrying Pool (One located in Thorin's Gate and Bree) and teleport in, to join Free Peoples you go to Rivendell.


Monster Info:
You can play as 1 of 5 different types of monsters. Monsters have no gear or armors and such, no leveling. You upgrade your monster by Destiny Points which are gotten by doing quests in the Ettenmoors, killing mobs and leveling your real character. (Destiny Points can also be used on your real character for buffs)



Monsters cannot leave the zone, most of the quests given in the Ettenmoors are repeatable quests but have a time limit till you can do it again.

When you choose your monster, it will be level 50 and cannot get higher or lower, as for skills there is no variety to choose from, about 5 different ones are available.

Monsters have 'ranks' which is upgraded by Infamy points. Higher ranks make you stronger and unlock more upgrades for the monster. Infamy is gotten by killing "Freeps" or Free Peoples, only player controlled characters not npcs.



The battleground:
PVP takes place in the Ettenmoors which is separated into "zones" or areas. Each zone has a keep that is guarded by npcs of the current owner. (Monsters or Free Peoples)



Each side fights for control of each keep, when the main guard of the keep is defeated that keep now belongs to the winning side. The keep is then populated with its own guards. The owner of the keep is free to go inside it and defend it from any attacks by the opposite race. Currently there are no perks in controlling a zone.

There are not many Free Peoples to kill since it is still in closed beta plus the open beta wipe coming soon.

Need some more info? Feel free to reply, I don't have a level 40+ character so I don't know much about Free Peoples.

Nice little guide, it'd be really nice if you could go into further detail about what each monster specializes in (ranged/melee) and go into a little more depth about what destiny points and what they are specifically used for.
