If you are playing in the closed beta, I am sure you know that the easiest way to make money at low levels is to Farm. That basically means choosing a job that has Farming included, I choose Historian.

To make a ton of money farming, you need to get to at least "Master Expert". You will make some money, but this is when you start to make the big bucks. You want to be able to use "Soil of Rivendell" to get a critical success everytime.

This is the way I went about it. I went the Pipeweed route.

I started with 15 silver, within an hour or so, it was 150 silver.

Apprentice
Vegetable crops require – 6 seeds, 2 fertilizer and 1 water
Pipeweed – 6 seeds, 2 fertilizer and 1 water

Journeyman
Vegetable – 6 seeds, 3 fertilizer and 1 water
Pipeweed – 6 seeds, 2 fertilizer and 1 water

Expert
Vegetables – 6 seeds, 3 fertilizer and 1 water
Pipeweed – 6 seeds, 2 fertilizer and 1 water

Once you achieve Master Expert, buy enough mats to make a few Pipeweed plants, buy enough Soil of Rivendell as well. Its 3 Soil per attempt. You will be making Sweet Galenas (sp) pipweed.

After you plant and harvest, recycle any "Poor" plants into seeds, and "fair" plants into the pipeweed.

I was doing this and making about 100 silver after a few plant/harvests.

It is so ridicously easy. You can fund the tougher crafts, Scholar being one, and raise those. You can buy nice Purple items in the AH.

Just remember, dont buy seeds after the first harvest, just recycle the Poor plants and all you will need to worry about buying is Water, Fertilizer and the Soil.

This guide is probably vague, but if anyone doesnt understand it, I will write a more detailed one.

Brandywine Server ftw. We do definately need more LOTRO info as well.
I wil take some pics ingame and add them later on this week.

FYI expect Farming to some how get nerfed. People were going nuts in OOC last night about all the farmers that have started to crop up (bad pun).

There was usually about 4 or 5 of us farming in MD, but last night, there were 17 I counted hahaha.

Everyone knows that farming is a huge money maker, get in on it while you can. Hopefully they wont touch it, and it will make it to open beta.

This has been nerfed on US servers, we expect the next patch for it to happen on the EU ones also.

Killing mobs and selling the loot is a very very easy method to quickly increase your pocket money :)

They did nerf it, however I hear they plan on reducing the cost of the crafting materials, seeds, etc required to start farming to balance it out a bit. I'm not going to count on it, though. It's Turbine, after all. What they promise is never what they end up doing. Learned that from playing DDO.

They have something in store for farmers, but that remains to be seen. In my opinions, they need to make it more cost effective to do. As it stands, its only real purpose is to serve as a gathering profession of sorts for cooks, but it's way too expensive to provide cooks with ingredients cheaper than what they can buy on NPCs.

They need to lower purchase costs on materials and make things more useful...maybe give pipeweed some sort of function other than neat graphics.

Works ok on EU servers for now. I must say you need 200s to get going, 20 crops = ~ 200s

EU servers now have farming nerfed, I am just about to test and see if there is any way around it.

For example if someone had a farming bot running 24/7 for one week dping 20 field runs, they could get around 30gold, but now it seems that is not possible anymore.

According to the patch notes, the nurf is only temp and in the next patch there will be a more profitable way for farmers.

Patch notes say you may make a few copper, compared to around 200s per 20 fields I consider that a nerf. Farming as it stands is not the way to make easy money anymore in lotro.

We will have to wait for the next patch and keep an eye on the US forums.
