EQ2: Extra money from crafting : EverQuest 2 Submissions

With the recent changes to the vendor buy back of crafted items, a lot of alchemists saw thier cash cow dissapear. However, I've found that you can trick the system to give you some extra money.

The new system tracks the actual cost of creating items in order to determine how much they are worth when you sell them at the vendor.

However, with the new recipies, you can make the same item two different ways, and the new recipies require 2x the fuel. If you try to sell them the fact they used extra fuel gives them a higher sell-back value.

What we need to do is find a recipie a recipie that you would normally be able to make with one fuel. Also, it has to yield a stackable final product.

Step 1: Create 11 of that item using the NEW recipie that uses 2x the fuel.
Step 2: Now create as much of the items using your OLD recipie with 1 fuel.
Step 3: Take a stack of the new item and drop onto the stack made with the 2x fuel (actually if it was in your inventory during step 2, your 1st 9 combines would have added to that stack).
Step 4: Split the master stack keeping 11 items... repeat step 3 until you have "upgraded" all of your 1x fuel items.

Its easy to do this if you have the merchant window open at the same time, you'll be able to pick out which stacks were made with 1 or 2 fuels.

For tier 5 combines, this earns you about 9 extra silver a sale.

You can also earn even more by using the new 2x fuel items in your writs.

Isn't that already nerfed and the buyback price is now calculated with the lowest tier fuel?

Gonna double check - the 11 items may be the key, since it's the majority of the stack then.

I can't confirm whether this works with 11 of the new items and 9 of the old, but I know that it doesn't work using a higher cost fuel and a lower cost fuel. Crafting the less-expensive item simply sets the buyback price to the lower of the two.

Unfortunately it looks like this was fixed.

I also tried the 2 fuel type trick too... Figured you could make a bundle by making a few stroma's with tier 5 fuel then buy the low ones from vendor and upgrade em...

I think how I originally found this is I had some stacks ok ink made from before the patch, and some new ones from after. I noticed they had different prices in the sell window, so I started experimenting.
